Osanovskaya grove in deadpan style

Deadpan is a direction in photography that implies a dispassionate, unbiased and emotionless vision of the plot, where a simple, direct composition is used, without any tricks or effects. This style often shows minimalism, muted colors, and an almost always general plan, less often an average one.

After the prolonged influence of the reportage wave on my perception of reality, it was difficult to switch to a genre that was ideologically opposite.

Again, I would like to clarify that there are intersections in all genres and deadpan may be partly reportage.

It was difficult not to apply any tricks and effects.

I would to choose the scene I'll shoot and capture it directly, with a central composition without a pile of details.

The opposite of deadpan for me would be spotting, where the main principle is to fit as much as possible into the frame.

Deadpan refers to art photography, which is mostly intended for galleries and private collections.

I mean, it's going to be difficult to squeeze a photo essay out of shooting in deadpan style...in fact, these are incompatible things.

Deadpan is pure documentary photography! Even the principles of photographing are like a photo on a document (if a portrait).

It turns out that this genre (but I'd rather call it a style) is about dry facts: I came, saw and filmed...without emotions or personal opinion.

But here the question arises already in terms of my research – what about the memory code on such images?

I think that only a robot can take pictures completely without emotions and feelings...therefore, the memory code will still be there. For example, I remember this evening well and enjoyed shooting.
