Courtyard spaces from above

A long time ago, a very long time ago, I wanted to take pictures of the city from a height. The wish came true! In general, many years ago I dreamed of being a roofer, that is, crawling on roofs and photographing views from a height.

But I'm afraid of heights, and the roofs in the city where I lived were low.

More than once I took pictures from the roofs of different areas in Veliky Ustyug.

But in Vologda there are high-rise buildings many times higher and the views are more interesting.

And the difference in number of floors and types of houses creates a graphic plot.

It turns out that everything is quite simple: you need to get into the entrance of the house, which has shared balconies.

And you also need a telephoto lens to get piles of architectural objects.

There are a lot of such photos, every big city was shot at night from a height, from the balcony of some high-rise building.

I still tried to focus the plot on graphics, rhythms and plans.

The best time to shoot such views is when there are no foliage on the trees.

But it depends on what goal is being pursued.

If beauty is needed, then it will be better in the summer.

But for graphics, for dry and rigid linearity and rhythmicity, night and leafless season are needed.

The roof of the house would be more convenient in terms of choosing a shooting point, but a shared balcony that anyone can access is the simplest and most affordable at the moment.
