Blue hour in Vologda. Part 2

There are several factors to consider in white balance. If you have two colors - white and blue, then white should be white. If there are three colors - blue, white and yellow, then here you need to find the very balance between blue and yellow. White color in this case will no longer be white.

If the picture contains green and (or) red, then there is no point in adjusting anything.

Sunlight has shades of yellow, while shadows and skies are shades of blue. These are natural colors.

There are no red skies or green shadows in nature. Sunset glow does not count.

Therefore, it is almost impossible to adjust the balance between red and green, although the scale for adjusting the white balance makes it possible.

Of course, you can try, but there will be no balance.

Where do I want to lead?

Besides, in many places in the city there are yellow lanterns, which make it difficult to correct the white balance and the color scheme with them is at least unaesthetic, and at the most nauseatingly disgusting.

But if there is an opposite color with shades of blue, then it automatically creates a color balance.

And at blue hour, this yellow color of street lamps only adds to the overall color of the whole plot.

So if there are a lot of yellow lights in your city, then it is better to shoot with them at blue hour.

Perhaps I haven’t gotten to the point where I can accept the yellowness of the scene under sodium light.

But before publishing, I sifted through a bunch of shots from different street and landscape photographers, and I did not find any shots with an overall yellowness without adding a balancing color.
