Winter is Coming!
I’m already wearing long pants and switched from white wine to red, so clearly winter is coming and I need to prepare.
Just joking over here and I’m sure there is still plenty of summer days to come, but knitwear takes a long time to make so it’s good to start early. Speaking like I don’t already own plenty of knits… but there will never be enough!
I was suffering for almost a full week for not having the time and the energy to start a new knit, even though I really wanted to. I had my materials and the pattern ready but as with all new knits, you need to have your brain ON when you start and with every new section so you don’t fuck it up. Then when there are long stretches of the same thing, you can check your brain at the door and turn on Netflix.
This time I’m making a fantastic long cardigan from merino and silk-mohair yarns, I would call this colour eucalyptus, a light muted green. I’m trying to make this super long, down to my knees at least, I’m pretty sure I have enough material for that. It’s gonna get boring at the end, I know that, but I would love a super long cardi to wrap into all winter.
I wish there was winter in my city, but it's just sunny every single day🙃
That sounds kinda nice but also probably boring in the long run.
How I wish there's winter here too so I could make some cardigans for myself and able to wear it. 🥰 But most likely, if the weather is cold here specially if it was raining, I wear those knitted cardigans but not made by me. You could always use something like a bamboo and cotton mix yarn so the cardi wouldn’t be that hot :)
Yes, a cotton mix will do. 🥰 And I also loved using spun polyester because it's shiny yet soft like cotton.
I would not recommend polyester for anything but if you like the sheen then try mercerised cotton :)

As of now at my end no preparations it's just rainy season and yet 3 more months left foe the winter so just watching Netflix.

It would not be unheard of to wear wool in the summer, it is Finland after all 😅 I actually like all seasons but I think summer is my favourite because of all the light, the depression is real when there is only a few hours of natural light in the winter.
Oh you have reminded me that I want this for winter. I suppose it might be a little weird with shorts and bare feet. Maybe it will get cold enough to wear pants 🤓

Years ago I tried a really nice cashmere wool one on at a store. I was wearing my usual outfit of shorts and it looked so funny standing in front of the mirror.
There's a story from the painter Franz Kline's wife of how when he was still an unknown artist he was saving money to get a coat and wanted a Burberry. He didn't think he could or should spend the money on it. She told he he had to get it because it felt like success. And it was! I still hope to get one someday.
Dress for success! I really do believe that works because when you wear a good outfit, you stand and walk with poise and confidence and in turn people will respect you more. Looks do matter and I always feel sooooo much better when I’m put together instead of ugly sweats and a messy bun.
When I put that coat on I felt sooooo good! my entire body came alive and just felt fantastic.
