Trust the Process

The reward I give myself for finishing one project is to start another. I know it’s pretty common to have several works in progress but that gives me anxiety and I get zero joy from returning to an old project so I try my best to avoid it. I always want to start something new and finish it in record speed.

My current knitwear project is a cute rib top from My Favourite Things Knitwear. Luckily it’s very popular so when you search #camisoleno5 in Instagram, you can see other people’s progress and finished pieces. If it wasn’t for that, I would have propably lost my faith right at the start. Just look at those sad and pathetic little straps!

Fear not, they won’t stay like that, there will be double knitted edges around the armpits, and a collar done at the end to finish the top. What I’ve seen on other people, it looks very neat and professional, like something you’d pay good money for at a shop.

I just tried this on for the first time to see if it’s even close to fitting. I put the work on a long cable (best knitting tool purchase ever) to try it on and figured I need to do one more set of increases both back and front before I join it in the round.

I’m interested to see how this will turn out in the end. I’ve never done anything where you have to finish the edges at the end but I really want to learn because it looks so good. I am hoping my sizing will work out in the end too since I didn’t swatch and I’m using thinner needles than what the pattern suggests. YOLO!

I’m hoping I’ll have a finished top ready by next Monday!

Wow! That's super cool.
Hopefully you can keep it from unraveling!

Thanks! Accidental unraveling would be quite unfortunate…
