Rewarding Myself

Some people might find knitting a laborious effort in a bad way, like a chore, but I find it extremely enjoyable.

I remember my grandma often telling my mom when we were visiting that she doesn’t have to do handcrafts, she’s on holiday. My mom loves creating with her hands too, but my grandma was from a different generation that was forced to do it and then later in life didn’t want to at all.

Schools and parents can easily ruin kids interests to good and healthy hobbies, sports and foods when they are forced instead of trying to figure out what the kids are into. I see it now how many adults are only now finding out that hey handcrafts can be fun and green veggies are not the enemy. The fake pandemic did force a lot of people to try out new things and now they are baking bread and knitting beanies for the first time in their life.

My upbringing at home and in early school years was way better than for the majority of the world population, so I always got to enjoy cooking, crafts and sports. Obviously doesn’t hurt that I have a natural interest and ability to said hobbies.

Long story long, once I finished my oblicatory boring ass school work on Friday, I immediately rewarded myself by starting a new knit project. I will never ever have enough knitwear and now that I’ve learned how to knit my own sweaters, I’m making more of them. This time it’s a white sweater with a baby blue colourwork on the yoke.

I expect that in 3-4 days it’ll be done and I can show you yet another cute sweater.

Blue is my favourite colour :) Ask anyone that actually knows me and they'll tell you I'm the least patient human they know, that's why I finish even big knitworks in days, not weeks or months like most people.

Hello there! Well, I couldn't agree more with you on this:

Schools and parents can easily ruin kids' interests in good and healthy hobbies, sports, and foods when they are forced instead of trying to figure out what the kids are into. I see it now how many adults are only now finding out that hey handcrafts can be fun and green veggies are not the enemy.

It's so good to let kids naturally explore their likes and interests. The whole world opens for them, so many possibilities and opportunities!

Your knitting works are beautiful! How did you learn? I would love to knit my own sweaters too. The white/baby blue combination you're using on this one got me wanting to have new knitwear, self-made or not haha

This is beautiful, though I don't know how to knit but I love one when I see one.

Very nice! Looking forward to seeing the completed sweater. I think everyone needs hobbies. It builds confidence to try and then succeed at things.
