Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop

Another yoke sweater finished.

It’s 3am and I could not give up before I finished this wintery sweater. I started this late last Thursday, so it took me 6 days to do. I’m clearly a mental case because most people use weeks or months to do one because they might have other interests of life that matters too.

It’s a lovely pattern called Peatland Song by Ihtiriekko. I once again used the Icelandic Lettlopi, which is fast becoming my favourite. It’s hard on the outside and soft on the inside, extremely warm and settles really nicely when worn. I didn’t have enough of the baby blue yarn so I decided to pair it with a darker blue and alternate for a few rows. Maybe it would have looked better without the alternated rows, but it is what it is. Overall I think I used 10 skeins of yarn.

I still need to wash and condition this to relax the yarn and soften it. It’ll take at least 12 hours to dry, even with the floor heating on high, but it’s worth the wait.

And here’s the state of my finger now after the yarn has slowly but surely eaten away at it for hours and hours.

Clearly I’m addicted.

This one would suit me well I think...But I hope you're looking after mine, taking good care of it. You can wear it for now.

Thank you! Though not much creativity when you follow a readymade pattern. Might design my own at some point though!

It is lovely. It sounds like you have found your preferred relaxation method. Keeping the hands busy while the mind wanders frees is super relaxing to me. I end up clinching my jaw half the time though, for some silly reason, and after crafting away at something for a while I can't chew properly for an hour or so after. Ha. Maybe it isn't actually relaxing at all...

Most definitely this is like what yoga is to some people. Haha, I get it, it’s the consentration if it’s something difficult or new.

What a beautiful sweater! I love colorwork and yoke sweaters.

Some day, I will make an Icelandic Lettlopi sweater. I have heard so much about this yarn. But the end result would be way too warm for our climate. Well, I could wear it for an hour in the early mornings :)

Beautiful work!!

Can’t imagine living somewhere where it’s never cold! But if you just like the look, you can always use a thinner yarn, even cotton and make a summer sweater in Icelandic style. :)

True. But I want to try the yarn. I have heard so much about it. And I can always go and visit cold areas :)
