LOH Community Contest #138 ~ I Am My Father's Daughter

I have heard and seen young ladies tell and write their life journeys with their mothers as the center of their strength but I can't say the same for myself. I can't start and end my life journey without having to mention my father's name, I mean it isn't complete if he isn't the center of my story.

Well, not obvious that my mother wasn't physically present but she wasn't there, for my grooming, perhaps that's how she was trained as well.

Do, I hope to have a husband and father of my unborn children, Hell no because the man has got a lot of flaws as a husband and father but his strengths have been the source of encouragement to me.

Right from childhood, I could remember the days he carried me on his shoulder to get me my favourite snacks or the days he would cry to him for money to go buy snacks or one of those junks I usually enjoy eating as a kid.

It didn't just stop there, days we would sit together to watch our favourite Soap Opera late in the evening, there were days he wasn't able to meet up with the show and I would have to wait up for him so I could tell him that day episode.

We would give our comments about the various scene, and what we thought each cast or character should have done and this bond didn't just stop there, it won't on to our eating habits. Funny enough, we both loved the same dishes especially our local meals, during weekends my mom decides to cook the meal, and we will both be served on a tray and devour it using our hands.

When it came to my education, he was my strength and backbone and never forgot to encourage me whenever I felt like giving up, my first stepping stone to being confident of myself and owing my life was when he gave me the permission of picking whatever course I was interested in reading while I listened to my friends and classmate grumble about their parents picking the course they want them to read, my dad never did.

In some of the subjects I wasn't doing well, even when I came home with bad results, not at any point did he scold me, but he encouraged me and even went as far as looking for a lesson teacher for me and never failed to tell me how good I am and how better I could be if I put in more efforts same way I was putting in other subjects.

I remember a time when he knew that I had gotten to my adolescent period, he made sure to provide all I needed at every point in time of my life making sure I never lacked the materials and the needed information to get myself through.

This is a story of a girl loved by her father who was ready to go to any extent to secure her happiness, instill confidence, and believed in her when she never did in herself.
