How long does it take to discover yourself as an artist?

In 2018 I decided to take this being an artist seriously, since then until now I have been exploring, experimenting and studying artistic currents to find which ones I feel special affinity with.

I have been drawing freely, expressing myself through shapes, lines and colors.

Along the way I have been forming my own criteria, I have seen what I feel comfortable with and what I don't feel comfortable with.

Sometimes I have felt the pressure that every artist has, to define and show a personal, original and distinctive style; however, I have understood that it is a process that is not rushed, because sooner or later it arrives.
Even so, I believe that the artist's life will always be a continuous experiment.

Today I share with you this set of works. They reveal moments of my trajectory over the last 2 years. Reviewing my works, I noticed that there were coinciding elements: the sea, the fish and the blue tones. These are details that sometimes are not visible to the artist himself; however, they are details that reveal the essence of the artist.

It has been a long road, full of pauses, accelerated moments and others of serene calm, just like the sea itself.

This is my most recent work, I feel especially identified with each element of it.

Its name is "Africa Sea", inspired by my ancestors.

"In Africa are the roots of America.
A sea separates us from mother Africa.
In Venezuela, the Caribbean Sea unites my memories, from Cumaná, first-born of the continent, to Naiguatá, land of my ancestors.
Both, peoples of sea and fishermen."

Today I share with you a little bit of me, for each work reveals who we really are.

En el año 2018 decidí tomarme en serio esto de ser artista, desde entonces hasta ahora he estado explorando, experimentando y estudiando corrientes artísticas para hallar con cuáles siento especial afinidad.

He dibujado con libertad, expresándome a través de las formas, líneas y colores.

En ese camino he ido formando mi propio criterio, he visto con qué me siento a gusto y con qué no.

A veces he sentido la presión que tiene todo artista, de definir y mostrar un estilo personal, original y distintivo; sin embargo, he comprendido que es un proceso que no se apresura, pues tarde o temprano llega.
Aun así, creo que la vida del artista será un continuo experimentar siempre.

Hoy te comparto este conjunto de obras. Estas revelan momentos de mi trayectoria a lo largo de estos últimos 2 años. Revisando mis trabajos, noté que habían elementos coincidentes: el mar, los peces y los tonos azules. Son detalles que a veces no están a simple vista para el artista mismo; sin embargo, son detalles que van delantando la escencia de este.

Ha sido un largo camino la verdad, lleno de pausas, momentos acelerados y otros de serena calma así como el mar mismo.

Esta es mi obra más reciente, me siento especialmente identificada con cada elemento de la misma.

Su nombre es "África Mar", inspirada en mis ancestros.

"En África están las raíces de América.
Un mar nos separa de la madre África.
En Venezuela, el Mar Caribe une mis recuerdos, desde Cumaná primogénita del continente, hasta Naiguatá, tierra de mis ancestros.
Ambos, pueblos de mar y pescadores."
