LOH #68 - 5 years from now
I remember a few years back as a new graduate preparing for different job interviews and one of the most common questions I get from an online mock interview trial is
Where do you see yourself in 5 years
From what I was told, in answering this question it is important the answer aligns with the company goals and values too.i should give answers like;
“In 5 years I should have grown tremendously with this company as a team player and also as a person and would have contributed to the growth and development of the company”
Bla Bla Bla”
Good thing I was never asked the question in an interview I was invited for..but now seeing the question of the week
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I knew it was high time I sat down, think about the question, and genuinely answer it. But to imagine what 5 years from now would look like, I have to understand how the last 5 years have been for me.
Let's look back in memory lane
5 years ago, in 2017 I was in my finals in the university, being the best student in my department and all I had in my head at that time was ensuring I keep up the good work with my education because it was my sure ticket to entering the cooperate world.

Picture of me 5 years ago as seen on my Facebook profile.
I just concluded my internship, with the 6-month experience with one of the best oil and gas companies at that time, I knew I wanted to be a corporate mogul or nothing else. I had a taste of the life and I was going for it
5 years ago I ate, slept, dreamt of working as a petroleum consultant with any top oil and gas firm and that was all that matters, no marriage in view, no baby in view I just wanted to work and earn cool money. I wanted a successful career for myself and I worked hard for it.
If you were to ask me this question 5 years ago of what I think my life would have been right now I am sure I would have said I would be killing it in my company, working my way in the cooperate ladder, and being the best in my field.

Well, 5 years later, here we are
I didn't get my dream job well I tried so hard, applied to lots of companies, tried to voluntary, but Covid happened and all my scheduled interviews and entry examinations were canceled ❌, while I was Waiting, I got married and had a child, and never got a callback. years have passed and I lost complete interest in the cooperate world, got some skills, and found hive.
😳this is the summary of my last 5 years
So 5 years from now, I really can't pretend that I know exactly how my life would turn out if the last 5 years has thought me anything is that there are lots of thing in life we cannot control but the best we can do is hope and dream.
But one thing I hope to still be relevant in my life is the CONSISTENCY.
Has Hive changed your prospects?
YES!!
Hive has changed a whole lot for me, Hive has given me a mindset revamp on money, investment, and most importantly consistency.
Who would have thought I would be able to write an article like this but consistency has made me better, showing up daily on hive keeps making me better.
Ps; I am already adding a content writer to my portfolio.
So one thing I would fight for to be constant in the next 5 years is my consistency, in whatever carers/business path life may drop at my feet and With my family, money, and investment plans.
I could go on and on about other things I would love to have and achieve 5 years from now but I am going to take it one day at a time, set realistic goals, make plans and be CONSISTENT.
I invite @reineesmay and @wolfofnostreet to join the ladies of hive community and answer any of the questions for the week.
We can learn the hard way that the original model of success is not very applicable in today's digital economy and world. I thought 5 years as a short enough period that we can possibly begin to make realistic goals based on the new experience, skills, and knowledge we have. But far enough that we could set the bar a little higher or lower if we wished. In the old model our goals can change. In the new digital model goals are just revised.

Consistency is an excellent thing to strive for. None of us knows what the future may hold; there are so many variables as to how that can turn out. But a standard of how you wish to remain is definitely achievable.
Thank you for sharing @estherscott, and have a lovely day!
Thanks for engaging, much appreciate and have a lovely day too @elizabethbit

In Venezuela, we have a saying that goes like this: One proposes and God disposes... I feel identified with you. Five years ago my job was one of the best in the country and it stayed that way until the economic situation of my country caught up with me.
Five years ago, I was trying to move up in my job. I wanted to get my PhD and keep running. Marriage and children, as I explained, were on the list, but they were not at the top of the list.
For some reason, I always wanted to do a lot of things before I got married.
But, everything changed. The University has a technical closure, because the students left the classrooms, my salary was devalued, I didn't get promoted, I didn't finish my PhD and I am still living with my parents.
I love them, but I imagined living in my own house. You know, because of the independence thing. But, it didn't happen. I will have to wait.
I loved reading you, @estherscott.
Oh, yes I have heard this saying and truly it's explains it's all..
And I am positive all you plans and achievements you wish to accomplish would come to a reality at the end ,like I always say to situations like yours;
“DELAYED BUT SURELY”... Few delays but it would all work out in it's time
Thanks for enjoying my blog post and engaging @yeceniacarolina

I enjoyed reading this and I learnt something from this: What the company expect when I go for an interview and I am asked such question, it should go in line with the company's goals. Thanks for this.
Also, I have learnt that consistency can lead one to becoming perfect and great in what they have set to do and I can see that in you. Though, we can't predict the future and control it but with hope and consistency, we would be doing great and also expect the best. Good luck to you ma.
Thank you
I enjoyed reading your post. You write with ease. It is often in life how it turns out and not how we want it. But "who knows why it is good" is a saying with us. I wish you luck in your further work.
Thank you so much @dorika-bee
Been consistent in life is the best which can make you move ahead of life.
With what I can see many people right here most especially those who have stayed long in hive, they have one thing or the other they can boast of about hive. To you, your writing skills have improved. This is so great
It pays to be consistent, what i have learn not quite long.
