Visitando la Basílica de Nuestras Señora de Chiquinquirá || Visiting the Basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá ♥
¡Hola Chicos!
En mi reciente visita a la ciudad de Maracaibo, estuve caminando por las calles del centro de la ciudad. Acá se encuentran muchos sitios emblemáticos y con un gran significado histórico para nuestro Estado.
Entre ellos está la Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá o "la chinita" como se le apoda con cariño a esta virgen. Aprovechando que pasábamos por ahí, mi compañera Elieska y yo decidimos darnos un pequeño paso por el interior de la misma para admirar su belleza y tomar algunas fotos para el recuerdo.
Yo no soy muy religiosa que digamos, no soy de ir a iglesias a rezar todos los domingos, más si lo practico a mi manera y mi propio ritmo. De esta gran basílica admiro mucho el arte y pues no podía perder la oportunidad de conversar un poco con la virgen para que me acompañara en todos los proyectos que están por comenzar en mi vida.

In my recent visit to the city of Maracaibo, I was walking through the streets of downtown. Here you can find many emblematic sites with great historical significance for our state.
Among them is the Basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquira or "la chinita" as this virgin is fondly nicknamed. Taking advantage of the fact that we were passing by, my partner Elieska and I decided to take a little walk inside to admire its beauty and take some pictures for the memory.
I am not very religious, I do not go to churches to pray every Sunday, but I practice it in my own way and at my own pace. I admire the art of this great basilica and I could not miss the opportunity to talk a little with the virgin to accompany me in all the projects that are about to begin in my life.
Como les comenté es algo emblemático de la ciudad y toda persona que pasa por ahí suele tomarse una foto para conservar el recuerdo de su visita.
Nosotras decidimos refrescarnos un poco bajo la sombra de un árbol antes de entrar. Aproveché de tomar una foto desde esa perspectiva.
Eran las 12 del medio día y tuvimos la oportunidad de escuchar una gran canción tocadas por las campanas de la iglesia. ♥
As I mentioned, it is something emblematic of the city and everyone who passes by it usually takes a picture to keep the memory of their visit.
We decided to cool off a bit under the shade of a tree before entering. I took the opportunity to take a picture from that perspective.
It was 12 noon and we had the opportunity to listen to a great song played by the church bells. ♥

And of course my photo in front of the basilica could not be missing.
Volver a entrar después de tantos años me trajo muchos recuerdos. La primera vez que lo hice fue en compañía de mi papá. Yo solía visitarlo los fines de semana cuando vivía en Maracaibo y el llevó a conocerla. No tanto por el tema religioso sino más bien por admirar su grandeza.
Luego yo iba sola a hacer mis compras a la ciudad y antes de regresarme pasaba, rezaba un poco sentada en estas grandes bancas de piedra y luego me iba tranquila.
Going back in after so many years brought back many memories. The first time I did it was in the company of my dad. I used to visit him on weekends when I lived in Maracaibo and he took me to see it. Not so much for the religious theme but rather to admire its grandeur.
Then I would go alone to do my shopping in the city and before returning I would pass by, pray a little while sitting on these big stone benches and then I would leave quietly.
El techo de la basílica es enorme, está muy bien iluminado y decorado lo que nos permite admirar su esplendor.
En la entrada esta una imagen de cristo acompañada también de un cuadro. El origen de esta obra lo desconozco pero se nota que tiene muchos años.
Los bancos donde se sientan los feligreses están hechos de piedra, de que material exactamente no se, pero tiene una gran cantidad de detalles.
The ceiling of the basilica is enormous, it is very well illuminated and decorated which allows us to admire its splendor.
At the entrance there is an image of Christ accompanied by a painting. I do not know the origin of this work but it is noticeable that it is many years old.
The benches where the parishioners sit are made of stone, of what material exactly I do not know, but it has a lot of details.
Habían muchos tipos de imágenes religiosas en cada rincón. Estos pequeños cubículos contaban con iluminación y decoración propia.
Desconozco el nombre de algunas figuras, igual no deja de ser maravilloso el arte en ellas. Aunque algunos de los murales se notaban algo deteriorados.
There were many types of religious images in every corner. These small cubicles had their own lighting and decoration.
I don't know the name of some of the figures, but the art on them is still wonderful. Although some of the murals were somewhat deteriorated.
Por supuesto no podía perder la oportunidad de ver de cerca a "la chinita". Para pasar a verla había que subir unas cortas escaleras. Habían unas personas rezando así que tocaba esperar un poco.
Ya luego fue el momento de subir.
Of course I could not miss the opportunity to see "la chinita" up close. To see her, I had to climb a short flight of stairs. There were some people praying so I had to wait a bit.
Then it was time to go up.
Y acá está la tan venerada Virgen de Chiquinquirá. Como les comenté al inicio, aproveché de conversar un poco con ella, de pedirle de su guía por mis proyectos venideros, el éxito en todo lo que haga y sobre todo el bienestar de mi familia. ♥
No tengo ni idea si esta es la tablita original pero las personas le rezan con mucha fe.
And here is the so venerated Virgin of Chiquinquirá. As I mentioned at the beginning, I took the opportunity to talk a little with her, to ask for her guidance for my upcoming projects, success in everything I do and above all the welfare of my family. ♥
I have no idea if this is the original tablet but people pray to her with great faith.
Ya luego tomé una foto de la basílica desde ese punto, y tomé dos, con la virgen y con la iglesia de fondo. Fue una buena visita. ♥
Then I took a picture of the basilica from that point, and I took two, with the virgin and with the church in the background. It was a good visit. ♥
Y dando los últimos pasos por la basílica, unas últimas fotos, nos despedimos de ella. Fue bueno volver, pude admirar de nuevo su grandeza, su arte y además traer conmigo los recuerdos, algo que también pude compartir con ustedes.

And taking the last steps through the basilica, some last photos, we said goodbye to it. It was good to come back, I could admire again its grandeur, its art and also bring with me the memories, something I could also share with you.
