The Power Of Words - How Deep Can It Cut?

The power of words, how deep can it cut?
Slip right through my bones, no you don't see my wounds.
Rapid and slow, contradictory motions as it pours
Right inside my room, reflecting at it's ruin.
Too personal, you don't see it
So embarrassing, am I the only one feeling it?
I get it, I should learn to handle burns
It's clearer that they don't care as the walls turn…

Have you ever wondered how much damage the words you speak cause?

Of course, at every little argument we find ourselves in, as humans, it's roast or get roasted.

Let's take a picture of a little girl, she's not so attractive, she has flaws, maybe too many of them. She's calm, not the type that loves trouble, hates attention, highly introverted, a whole definition of a weak soul.

Maybe you bumped into her some "unfortunate" day on the streets. Probably she had broken your tablet in the process, and how do you react?

Hang on, here's what I think:

"are you blind? Didn't you see me coming? What is wrong with you? Am sure you can't afford this, I mean look at you, you're looking like a piece of shit, oh, you're literally trash, you're good for nothing, now you've destroyed my tab and I'll be late for my appointment. Thanks a lot looser.

I am pretty sure most people would say even more, the reactions applied these days on minors issues are heartbreaking. It's like we're losing everything to pride, there's just so much wrongs, love and kindness is now as rare as finding rain in deserts.

Though this is not the only instance, from a study field, most teachers condemn kids in the most unusual way, and never do they think how much those words had affected them. And in the open world, we tend to play too much, say too much, and cause a lot of damage with our words.

I was once scrolling through my social media accounts when I noticed a post.

On it, it was written : "and she actually killed herself"

As I dug dip…

Apparently someone made a post online, sometime back, sharing the struggles she was faced with and how it was weighing her down. Basically she was sobbing, not really asking for anyone's help, but a caring approach would have been really lovely for her. But then out of no way, a person dashed out and commented "kill yourself" and then the latter report was that the girl actually committed suicide.

Maybe we do it unintentionally, as a joke sometimes, but not everyone has a sense of humor as we, not everyone has the understanding that it's not deliberate, not everyone can tell whether or not to care.

Amongst us are weak souls, born weak and grew up weak. They really can't decide what's not worth hurting over. Even the strong ones hurt too, in fact they hurt most due to having been too strong for a long time, having endured so much. Words are deadly, the way we vomit our shits and see it, are not the same way another person takes it in.

So then, in arguments it's always advisable to watch the words we use and how we prove our points to win the discussion. And then, in general terms, it is highly recommended that we train our tongues to be gentle and only react with kindness. The cuts words leave could become a forever scar, though we don't realize it most times, but that's the reality.

Hopefully this makes sense…

Of course it makes sense, espandorr... but I get the feeling that someone in your life is being unkind, and you may have had a particularly tough day. I'm sorry... if it's any consolation at all, I would never speak to someone like that (even in the scenario you described). Whenever possible, we should surround ourselves with thoughtful, caring people. Thank you for sharing these thoughts. :)

Hehe, am not in anyway having such people around, besides am not a weak type, I don't let things of this nature affect me. However, the little poetic piece up there is inspired by all the movies I've watched and some real life experiences, but not mine. Nevertheless, I appreciate your concern, and yea, we do fail to understand that people have different issues they're passing through, there's only so much kindness can do and also, how much damages being rude could inflict.

I remember the poem as a child

"sticks and stones may break your bones but names will never hurt me"

I guess this poem is part of society's way to teach resilience but in reality its all backwards, bones will heal, but sometimes the damage from names never heals.

This is one deep shit. Makes me remember a song by Juice Wrld titled "Sticks and Stones"

Words tend to stick longer, they're like scars, but worst because unlike scars, we may have them on our skin, which could easily be covered. But words sticking to one's head, takes almost nothing to cover nor erase, especially harsh ones.

a wise man said : "kind words cost nothing"
i totally agree we must to controll our tongue and trying to be gentle and to be kind person, sometimes the word can be sharper than a sword, it will inflict deep wounds in the heart and is very difficult to heal :)

I watch these dramas unveil every day when I take the bus to town or back home. The owners of various cars will curse, spit, and abuse the one who damages his or her car out of mistake, or the traffic congestion on the street.

I am not saying I wouldn't cos recently I asked my neighbor to help me with my hair, and he cut some part of it short. I don't know if I would have given him some blows if he didn't travel as at the time I found out. I mean "I had put in so much into making my hair grow to this length"

That is exactly how people feel when they are on the verge of losing something they have work so hard to get

We all need to watch our words. They either build or break people.

The breaking part gets no attention in reality. We focus too much on our hard work or whatever, without thinking if these things we're reacting to are deliberate and if there's ever a better approach around it.

That is true anyways, we need to always find a better approach around everything instead of reacting anyhow.

It's like we're losing everything to pride, there's just so much wrongs, love and kindness is now as rare as finding rain in deserts.

I don't even think it's pride with some people, just plan idiocy. They are so detached from the fundamental parts of fulfilling human life that they infect others with their own twisted perceptions. Not enough enlightenment in this world and too many people who are happy to bring others down.

It's disheartening at the later end, because most weak humans have a lot mental issues and here the world keep adding to their problems

Well said, espandorr... better to say nothing at all than to say something hurtful or cruel. We never know what others are going through in their lives. Even those who seem have everything going perfectly. It might all just be a facade.

Oh yeah, words do have power and a lot of powers. It is not just about what we speak to others but also what we speak to ourselves. Monitor our self-talk and we will know why we stand where we stand. If the self-talk is full of negativity then we will be low self-esteem people. However, if we have strong self-talk then a very very good chance that we will be winners every day. And guess what, such winners are the ones who know how to speak well with others. :)

A good post focusing on a very important thing in our life.
