Moments Of Life - Raining With Cats Lately

The title may sound strange, but what I'm going to show you today it is exactly that. Moment of life. Moments of my life and when you watch these photos and read my post (if there will be anyone doing that) it's going to be moments of your life. The second part of the title is a bit funny, because I don't like cats, yet it's the second time this week that I'm posting about cats.

Moments Of Life - Raining With Cats Lately.jpg

This morning I went back to my hairdresser as we had some unfinished business from last night. When I got to the salon, the door was open and a cat was standing in the doorway looking inside, curiously, to see what's going on there. It looked strange and cute as well, because you don't see that every day. Stray cats are rarely friendly, they are rather afraid of humans for a good reason. Ina hairdresser salon there's noise, there's laud chatter, it's definitely not a place for a cat, but this fellow was still curious and ready to go in.

I stopped in front of the door, giving the cat the option to go in or go away. Finally I was able to go in as the 4 legged decided to leave.

It took me 3 minutes to finish my business and when I wanted to leave, this is what I saw. At that point I asked my hairdresser if she is taking new clients as there's one in the doorway. My hairdresser said that's his boy 🙂

So this is definitely a tray cat, but it looks like the most friendly cat I've ever seen.

He was rolling on his back, enjoying the morning sun. We took a few photos of him and I thought he's the best cat model I've ever had.

Then he started cleaning himself, like nothing has happened.

He was not bothered by the fact that I had no space to come out of the salon and had to step over him.

It's not a secret that I'm not a cat fan, but this little cutie showed me something today that made me stop and reflect. You don't see many stray dogs in the city as most of them have been already picked up. I'm not contesting the measure as sometimes a pack of dogs can be extremely dangerous.

Cats are a different matter as you can't chase them away, neither control them. Cats are not dangerous as most of them are running away from people for good reason. There are still good people who are feeding them, but there are also bad people who are hurting them just for fun.

One thing I hate more than anything and that is animal cruelty. Unfortunately the law is too permissive with these criminals in my country and reporting a case and taking it to court is not very common.

So today I was happy to see this little fellow so friendly and happy, enjoying the morning. It's good to see something like this is a busy city, where everyone is in a rush and paying attention to the environment becomes secondary, or even further down the list as there are always more important things to do. Helping animals is not a priority anymore and if we can, we chase them away as they become a burden.

A couple of years ago the neighborhood administration wanted to have the crows killed because they make a mess. They had a petition for people to sign. The initiative was unsuccessful thank God!

If we continue like this, cities are going to become concrete monsters with drones flying above us and we'll see green spaces on the big billboards places all over the city.

While going to the grocery store, I spotted these three pigeons eating breadcrumbs. It's not a scene you see every day as feeding birds is forbidden. Yes, it is forbidden, no matter how strange it sounds and whoever did this, could be fined. This scene was next to the bakery, so one doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out, where the breadcrumbs are coming from. They most likely cleaned the bread slicer and gave the breadcrumbs to the birds.

Returning from the grocery store, I saw the party was on as there were eight already. I suppose this is a daily event, or more like twice a day maybe, which is good as the se pigeons have a meal guaranteed, if they are smart.

Then returning home I spotted these two in front of my apartment building. There's always a cat or two roaming around. Nowadays more as there are kittens too. My neighbor is feeding them.

Now look at these two. Are they looking friendly and happy? Far from it. I know very little about cats, but it's visible from a mile that they are suspicious and ready to jump or run away. Good thing I cameras have zoom function as otherwise I would have captured a big nothing as you can't go close to them.

Si yeah, life is not always a Disneyland, some are lucky, others are not, but there's always something we can do to make our and others' life better. It's not every day I am posting about topics like this, but today I felt like I had to. Today it's caturday by the way.

I could not understand why it is forbidden to feed the birds. I think it's a wrong ban. I don't know if there is anything more enjoyable than feeding these creatures.

It is enjoyable, I admit, but you need to think of the whole thing from a different point of view. These are wild birds, which means they look for food themselves. Once you start feeding them, they get used to getting food regularly and forget about how to look for food themselves. The other issue is food makes them coming back every single time and they make a mess. That's what authorities see.

Haha I love cats and I most often laugh at people who don't. Except they come at me with a comparison to dogs and how resourceful they are.

I really don't get why people are so intolerant of other creatures living around us, so much so that they want them killed. I mean it's okay to not like them and/or send them away, but kill? Na! Not if they're not harmful. Oh well, they probably think, "oh we're the most superior creatures on earth so fuck the rest"... 🤦🏾‍♀️ I hope they realise!

Cruelty is a serious offense and many don't understand the consequences. Once the law is tightened and people get used to reporting every incident, a couple of years in jail will make them change their minds.

I totally agree with you. People doing as they like with zero thoughts as to the negative consequences of their actions would only understand the language of punishment/violence.

That cat at your hairdresser really does look so tame, he's quite cute! I like that you were able to joke about him being a potential client, maybe he needed some grooming done.

Feeding birds is forbidden? That's hectic, didn't know they did that, but those pigeons were having a blast with the crumbs!

Those two cats at the end look very unhappy, shame. I got very sad looking at the kitten's face. I am glad that there are still people out there that will help take care of the ferals even though they actually deserve to have a home. There's a huge feral cat population practically all around the world even with the animal welfare running programs to try and sterilize them, the numbers seem to just keep growing.

You are right, maybe this was the tamest cat I've ever seen, that's why I was so amazed. He was literally throwing himself to my feet.

The hairdresser said she's accepting new clients, so who knows, maybe he's going to get a new haircut soon, or change colors 😁 A few more spots won't hurt.

An I agree, the contrast between this cutie and the other two cats is huge. Kind of felt sorry for the two, how unhappy they looked.

We have a few cats in the basement all the time, they say the cats are good as they hunt the mice down but then we had to pay for disinfection against fleas. They said we had fleas 😳 so ...

Maybe he's endearing himself to the hair salon owner hoping to be adopted. If not, spots will be nice for him or maybe just a brushing every now and then 😁

Fleas are an issue if they aren't dealt with. I read once that 70% of fleas are actually not in the adult form of fleas, they're in the other parts of the life cycle. That's not pleasant to think of so getting the place fumigated isn't a bad idea. Pity the cats in the basement were infested with them, they do help hunt mice but having fleas as a result sucks.
