From Architecture To Cutlery - Monochrome World

My last monochrome blog post was two days ago, yet I'm back with another set of black and white photos. The truth is, as a photographer, you take what you get and make the most of what it is given to you. You can plan in advance but when you get there, you may not find what you've been looking for, or you can just keep an open mind, keep your eyes open as well and take advantage of what you see as you never know what you're going to find.

Today I came across this church, which is not new to me, I've taken several photos of it over the years and was always happy to see how good those white towers look against the beautiful blue skies. But today I captured it from another angle, in a way to include the building next to me, which I like a lot because of the architecture. I love the balcony a lot.

Making the photo black and white makes me think of the 60's, when color photos were rare or non existent. The building next to the church is from the 60's, so it makes it right in a way.

Next there was this window, that from outside looks absolutely fantastic, even though it looks old and probably problematic. These are buildings from art nouveau era, when decorating the facade was a must and they did a very nice job. Looking at the windows from a practical point of view, it's a nightmare as you need a ladder to clean them, but those who owned the house when it was built did not do the cleaning themselves. Nobles were the one commissioning these buildings and at that period of time, they all had servants to do the dirty work.

This is a piece that is really testifying of the past. If you look at the window shutter, it doesn't scream wealth, looks like the paint is at least a 100 years old, but in black and white this is what makes it interesting. I truly feel blessed to find such rare things.

The other gift from life was this one. The shutters were new, but still lovely in my eyes, there were grates on the window, which is not very common around here, but what makes it unique in my opinion is the reflection. You can see what's in the opposite side of the street, very clearly.

Now this is a totally different theme, which is new to me as I've never taken a black and white photo of a dinner table as food is better in its original form, I mean colored, but this is not food and looks very different. I was lucky as the table was white painted wood, which made it more attracting. The lack of the tablecloth was a blessing here, the form of the glass and the simplicity of the cutlery as well. I am definitely not against it and will pay more attention to this kind of setups in the future. You never know.

Choosing the thumbnail image is always a struggle. I'm always in trouble with it as one wants to feature the best one, but as the beauty is in the eye of the beholder ...

I love the fourth picture, because of the texture and contrast you captured also thanks to the black and white technique. Cheers!

Yeah, that is interesting and made it to look more textured.
