El Reino del Revés es un libro que nos relata los inicios de la carrera musical de este gran músico conocido como Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, de ahora en más "Woferl"; pero todo desde el punto de vista de su hermana, de ahora en más "Nannerl", quién también tenía dotes y aptitudes para la música. Aunque le fueron negadas porque era una sociedad muy retrógrada que no permitía a las mujeres desarrollarse de manera profesional. De hecho, lo tenían prohibido.

The Kingdom of Back is a book that tells us about the beginnings of the musical career of this great musician known as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, henceforth "Woferl"; but all from the point of view of his sister, henceforth "Nannerl", who also had gifts and aptitudes for music. But she was denied because it was a very backward society that did not allow women to develop professionally. In fact, it was forbidden.

All these events are mixed in a world that is half real and half fantasy. But there are many real things that are explained in the author's notes at the end of the book.

Trama - Plot

Nannerl ama la música y tiene un gran talento para componer, pero siempre se vio opacada por su hermano pequeño, Woferl. Nannerl loves music and has a great talent for composing, but was always overshadowed by her younger brother, Woferl. Woferl demonstrated from an early age a greater aptitude for music and composition, which attracted attention and allowed them to tour throughout Europe and grow professionally. However, Nannerl and Woferl had a good brotherly relationship, Woferl admired Nannerl very much.

Opinión personal - Personal opinion

Bueno, parece bastante fantasioso si se ponen a pensar, pero la verdad es que al leerlo le encontré un doble sentido a lo del Reino del Revés, sentí que era un escape creado por Nannerl para poder sobrellevar la angustia y la carga de no poder hacer lo que ella amaba en realidad: dedicarse a la música como su hermano. Lo hacía, pero se vio opacada por él y, de todos modos, al seguir creciendo la iban inclinando a dejar de dedicarse a ello. Pero seguía escribiendo piezas en secreto.

Well, it seems rather fanciful if you think about it, but the truth is that when I read it I found a double meaning to The Kingdom of back, I felt it was an escape created by Nannerl to cope with the anguish and the burden of not being able to do what she really loved: to dedicate herself to music like her brother. She did, but she was overshadowed by him and, anyway, as she grew older she was inclined to give it up. But she continued to write pieces in secret.

En el Reino del Revés, Nannerl podía salvarlo si componía música. Esa era la clave. Fue bastante genial este cruce, me pareció original y bien abordado. Este reino era como el real pero dado vuelta, más salvaje, lleno de enredaderas y criaturas. Algo como lo que pasa en el pueblo de Stranger Things del otro lado.

In The Kingdom of Back, Nannerl could save him if he composed music. That was the key. It was pretty cool this crossover, I thought it was original and well tackled. This kingdom was like the real one but turned upside down, wilder, full of creepers and creatures. Something like what happens in the Stranger Things town on the other side.

No soy una experta sobre Mozart, pero me encantó leer sobre su vida y algunos detalles al respecto que desconocía.
Me gustó mucho la historia, aunque por algunos momentos se me hacía muy densa de leer porque tiene mucha descripción y monólogos internos de parte de la protagonista.

I am not an expert on Mozart, but I loved reading about his life and some of the details I didn't know about it.
I really liked the story, although at times it was very dense to read because it has a lot of description and internal monologues from the protagonist.

Adoré la hermandad de estos dos y me encantó que haya resistido contra las adversidades y vencido ante los celos y la envidia. Woferl se apoyaba mucho en Nannerl, la idolatraba. Y aunque Nannerl haya actuado un poco mal en algunas ocasiones la pude entender.

I adored the brotherhood of these two and loved that it stood up to adversity and overcame jealousy and envy. Woferl leaned heavily on Nannerl, he idolized her. And even if Nannerl acted a bit badly at times I could understand her.

Sin embargo, la salud de Woferl nunca fue muy buena, solía enfermarse seguido y las largas horas de viajes, parar en hoteles y tocar en diferentes sitios no era la adecuada para su estado de salud. El desenlace es el que ya conocemos.

However, Woferl's health was never very good, he used to get sick often and the long hours of traveling, stopping in hotels and playing in different places was not suitable for his state of health. The outcome is what we already know.

Hechos reales - Real facts

En la nota de la autora al final del libro, nos cuenta que el Reino del Revés es una historia que ellos inventaron de verdad para entretenerse en sus largos viajes en carruajes. Ellos solían tocar juntos en sus giras, al menos mientras eran niños; Nannerl manejaba el Clavecín como nadie y Woferl tocaba el violín junto a ella.

In the author's note at the end of the book, she tells us that The Kingdom of Back is a story they actually invented to entertain themselves on their long carriage rides. They used to play together on their tours, at least while they were children; Nannerl handled the harpsichord like no one else and Woferl played the violin alongside her.

Palabras finales - Closing words

Es una lectura muy interesante, y a pesar de que está pensada para un lector joven, creo que no está mal echarle una ojeada a la historia de Nannerl. Cuántas niñas como ella habrá visto el mundo, con mucho talento y potencial que no pudo ser aplaudido. Sin dudas es una lectura que me dejó reflexionando sobre este hecho.

It's a very interesting read, and even though it's meant for a young reader, I think it's not bad to take a look at Nannerl's story. How many girls like her must have seen the world, with so much talent and potential that could not be applauded. It is certainly a read that left me reflecting on this fact.
