Problems with "Rentals in "Splinterlands" - Personal Opinion and solutions.

Made in CANVA

Two weeks ago I wrote a post about a battle in the "Wild Format", where I commented that soon I would bring you another post talking about how I did in that season and that I was really happy to get serious again about the game, besides, I also commented that I would explain how I did in that season with my rewards, but, I'm afraid it will be the post after this one, because I want to touch a very important topic that is worth to be highlighted.

That's why I will talk about what are the famous Rentals in Splinterlands, which exist for a long time, but that, since many seasons ago I didn't experience, that's why, coming back with all my energies I have run into several surprises that I really didn't know (I should have researched it haha), but, I feel good, I really prefer to try things by myself and evaluate how they work, this way I make sure if they are feasible or not, so, having said that, I hope you like this post.

Feel free to comment, I would love to chat about this topic and know the opinion of more players....

What are rents?

Before talking about rentals in more depth, I would like to explain what they are from my point of view and experience, as many new players reading this post may not understand what they are, so here we go:

Rentals are a market included in "Splinterlands", where a player decides to rent one or more cards from his own collection, for a certain fee and where the lessor decides the number of days he wants to rent that card paying the agreed fee, it works as a kind of contract.

This is basically the definition of what a "Splinterlands Rental" is, which I think is really great and very necessary for the economy in the game, since it allows a comfortable access for those investors and/or players who don't have a lot of money to buy their own cards, which is my case, since, due to mistakes that I don't know how to explain (I lost the opportunity), I could never buy many of my own cards, so I dedicated myself exclusively to rent cards and under this modality I have made profits that, many times I have been taking to my HP, but now, I am doing the opposite, but this is another topic hehe.

What is the problem I have witnessed in the "Rentals"?

lineahiveultradelgada.jpg

The rentals are still cheap on average, however, since the last time, prices have increased exponentially, which I imagine is natural, since the number of players is much larger than when I played, but that is not a problem, what I do see that is frustrating, somewhat annoying and also represents a problem as I personally see it, is that every time the rental prices change and increase as the days go by, I know that the minimum time is 2 days, something new that I found in fact, but if we players who rent much more frequently, we make a contract for 7 days, the ideal is that the player who is renting his card or cards, keep the contract until the end of those days.

I know that this for many does not represent a big problem, but for the small investor like me, who likes the game a lot, but who competes through the rental market, it is really annoying, since, what is commonly budgeted for a season, ends up increasing too much, spending beyond the money allocated, something that makes it really complicated to generate some decent profitability making this type of investment in the game, this leads me to ask myself the following question:

Why if the lessors decide at the time a price, they decide to change it later for a higher one?

It is a good question, because, looking at the position of the lessor, if you evaluated the market and decided how much return on investment you want to get by renting a card or several of them, what sense does it make to change the price every 2 days, if even a part of that agreed amount that the lessee paid is returned to him, For me this does not make much sense, if I were the one renting cards, if I had thousands of them, I would not cancel the contracts, I would let my client, with whom I made a contract, finish playing the days he chose to pay for them, it is the best if you want to have clients that in the future decide to come to you to rent a group of cards again.

The Solution I see for this problem

lineahiveultradelgada.jpg

The truth is that I can't think of many things that can solve this, the vast majority of players are looking for passive money; and I don't blame them, I would do it too, however, the system could work a little more fairly for those who do not have much capital, since, I'm not saying that owning cards is not incentivized, but if this is what you want to achieve, the idea is that players who rent complete decks, at least from 3 different teams, can get decent returns in a full season, regardless of the league in which they play.

Following this same order of ideas, the following has occurred to me:

What if, instead of all lessors deciding when to break a contract, they were not allowed to do so, but rather, once you placed your price, the rental lasts at least 7 days without any of the parties being able to break said contract, so that, after half the season passes, they can break said contract and update their prices, this would be fairer, plus the players would look for more complete sets, if the rentals last at least 7 days, it would be a very good advance, although I would aim for, it would last a full season, I think this would be the best.

I don't know if this is a problem, I really don't want to make a riot, the only thing I am expressing is my opinion about one of the services of the game and how this could be improved, with the objective of improving the rewards for the small investors of the game, since, in the highest leagues where the best players are, the rewards are extremely good and this is fine, since you must reward your best investors very well, but, you must not forget the small fish in the pond, for the fact that they are just as important for the ecosystem as a big investor.

Finally

I hope you liked this post, I would like to see in the comments what you think about it, it is a very interesting topic, and it would be good to discuss with the aim of seeking consensus and collect data to see which options all investors are inclined.

Wait for the next post, where I will detail my rewards of the last season, which I also hope will be interesting for everyone.

See you next time players

Excellent explanation and I support your suggestions, unquestionably there is a small complication at the moment of making some rentals and I consider that your contributions can be of much help to give solvency to this problem. Very good post, I like it!

I have found your post, after the moment of the bounty. Excuse me for that, but I do agree with what you present to us. When I'm not playing I rent the cards and I keep the price, without changing it all the time. It is a show of respect for the person who trusted me for the rental.
