Wednesday walk; the surveyors experience

I bring you greetings, am so excited to be here an to share with you all, one of my most interesting walk experiences in the past two months. I will love to say a big thank you to the admin and active members of this great community, for a job well-done and for keeping the community alive and active.

Today I will be sharing my walk experiences, that has brought so much inspiration and has opened me up to many problems solving opportunities.

I am an Engineer by practice but l needed to accompany a few friends and my younger brother who is a surveyor in the making to an interesting site, but l will say that it was worth the time, energy, stress and resource.

The journey was stressful but l saw things for myself, as you can see on those photos, the surveying site was a swampy area, a location within a community in a state in south south Nigeria, the reason for the survey was to check the extent of damage caused by companies who are into crude oil exploration within our locality.

We went with a team of six, and also a few community people to take us round the location were the damage has been done, and also help us on the information on the happenings of that local environment.

The journey took us about eight hours to go round for that day and return, you see that had to use a locally made boat which is paddle by hand because we had so location were we had to cross some streams and rivers to be able to get the map and the coordinates of the affected area for effective documentation and report presentation.

That happened to have been the first time of engaging such area, but it was an awesome experience, some of those my friends had never used boat, at some point it was fearful but later became very interesting.

We got to some locations we're we had to use a locally constructed wood bridge so as to help us cross the stream to the other side of the affected land, it was full of amazing memories, I tell you that the experience was worth it.

You can see oil spilling all over the place, you see their water being conterminated, the land also have been greatly affected, as such
really affected the livelihood of the indigenous people, thereby Making life difficult for them.

This was for me a great sight to behold, while on that journey, l got inspired by the things I saw and l plan to revisit that community and to get update on how the company as well as the government have responded to that regards.

I will leave you with this wrd, please make out time, do a walk, enter into places you have not been before, get someone alongside to guide you, you don't need to go to far, or journey a long distance but you will amazed at the things that will inspire, motivate and bring fresh ideas to the mind.
