The Day I Finally Finished My Secondary School Examination

Hello everyone. My name is @emmanuel50, and I hope you are all doing well. Today I want to share one of the happiest days I can remember. It was Friday, 15 August 2025, the day we wrote our final secondary school examination. The last paper was English Language, and everybody in my class had been looking forward to that day for a long time. We all wanted to finish our exams and finally become free after months of reading and preparing.
The night before, I was so excited that I could hardly wait for morning. I kept thinking about the final paper and praying that everything would go well. I had read my books very well, so I only wanted to get to school and write the exam.
When I woke up around 5:00 a.m., I got myself ready. Around 6:00 a.m., something unexpected happened. A very heavy rain started falling. At first, I thought it would stop after a few minutes, but it continued without slowing down. The rain was so heavy that I became worried. I kept checking the time, hoping it was still early. When I looked again, it was already 8:00 a.m., and our examination was going to start by 9:00 a.m.

At that moment, I became confused. English Language was our final paper in the WAEC examination, and I did not want to miss it because it is a compulsory subject. I knew I had to get to school no matter how heavy the rain was.
I quickly wore my school uniform, picked up my umbrella, and went to the house of my friend because we normally went to school together. When I got there, his mother told me that he had already left for school in the heavy rain because he did not want to miss the examination. Hearing that surprised me. Without wasting any more time, I also entered the rain and started walking. I was feeling cold, but I didn't care. The only thing on my mind was getting to school before the examination started.

As I continued walking, the rain slowly became lighter. After some time, I finally saw a commercial motorcycle. I quickly stopped the rider, and he agreed to take me to school. I reached the school around 8:30 a.m. I thanked God because the supervisors and invigilators had not arrived yet. I entered the examination hall, sat down, and waited. About ten minutes later, the supervisors came in, and the examination began.
The English questions were much easier than I expected. Many of the things I studied appeared in the exam, and I answered the questions with confidence. When I finished writing, I felt happy because I knew I had given my best.

After the examination ended, the supervisors prayed for all of us and wished us success in our future. As soon as we stepped out of the examination hall, the whole school became full of excitement. Everyone started shouting, laughing, dancing, and celebrating because we had finally finished our secondary school examination.

One of the most exciting parts was our sign-out. Everybody brought out markers and started writing on one another's white uniforms. We also signed our names, wrote short messages, and wished one another success. It is something many students do after their final examination, and it made the day even more special.

We also took many pictures together, exchanged phone numbers, and promised to keep in touch. Looking around and seeing everybody smiling made me realize that we had completed an important part of our lives. It was a day filled with joy, friendship, and hope for the future. I don't think I will ever forget that day because it gave me memories that will stay with me for a very long time. 😊
