Sidewalk woodfired pizza

Nahar’s sidewalk cafe is one of the places recommended by a foodie traveler for “Places to eat in Ooty”. We were three that night when went to eat out in the busy Ooty town. Finding Sidewalk cafe is pretty easy but the inside of the cafe was empty when we reached.

What that meant is we had enough tables to choose from and they had good interior settings. Comfortable seats and tables. Speaking of tables, this is how a table looked like and tell me what comes into your mind first?!

Let me quickly show the menu which until the time we actually looked into the menu we were deciding on which meat to go for. Nahar’s sidewalk cafe is a vegetarian cafe and it is pretty clear from the signboard itself. But somehow we didn’t notice that and spent a decent amount of time discussing what we all like, dislike, good places to eat those in different cities and so on.

Sidewalk cafe has a lot of options from starters to desserts. They even have a separate section for chocolates and pastries.

Chocolates are the homemade ones mostly, those are there everywhere in Ooty or rather say in every hill ranges.

We went for the Nilgiri special woodfired pizza and a white sauce pasta. It was more than enough for three. The pizza was loaded with cheese and in the end, we had to make a veggie cheese thingy since it was that heavy.

Food And A Little Tour Of The Interior

It took some time to cook the pizza and pasta. That is when we noticed the cool pieces of art and collections inside the cafe. Like those were really nostalgic pieces and the interior was pretty cool with them.

However, one of us decided to kill my appetite by examining the table. You see, this is the tabletop.

Somebody had to say that it looked like bathroom floor tiles or wait it wasn’t “bathroom” in the explanation and that was it. All of a sudden my hunger became some other weird feeling!

The fact is even though we ordered woodfired pizza and knew that it is special here, we ha not seen the oven. I was challenged to prove my skills to take pictures of the oven being the blogger I am and well turns out it wasn’t hidden anywhere. You can actually see the oven from outside the cafe through the glass doors itself.

So I got to see how this cute little fun looking oven worked to make our pizza. They put a lot of cheese on top, a lot! Put inside the oven using a shovel that is longer than the chef himself, I’m not kidding! And closed the little door of the oven and waited for it to be baked.

And then this came out of it!

And this was also served!

The food was really good and we had to pack some of that pasta back to the hostel. But, somehow, one of us had to try the dessert from there and bought a chocolate cheese pastry. Surprisingly it was good. It is not that easy to find cheesecake that doesn’t have the salty taste. Or maybe I have only tried at places it tasted like that.

Anyway, Nahar’s sidewalk cafe is a good option for vegeterian food in Ooty.
