Morris Dancing in Bakewell, Derbyshire

We had a walk around Bakewell today. Famous for its Bakewell Puddings. It is a pretty little market town and popular with tourists. Great for Christmas shopping too. Shush .... don't say the 'c' word just yet!

After having a coffee, we set off back to the car only to find the local Morris Dancers setting up to have a dance. If you are not familiar with Morris Dancing, it is a form of folk dancing to music. The dancers, hop, skip around wearing bells on their shins and holding sticks, the odd sword and handkerchiefs and as you can see, much more.

I'm not sure what the dog was thinking. Probably the same as me! I thought it was going to join in at one point.

I had to count the beat of the music to try and get shots of the dancers throwing their handkerchieves up in the air. Trust me you had to be there!

If aliens landed at this precise moment, they'd think what the ....??

A nice crowd and I enjoyed it in a bizarre way.
