Mercia Marina: A Quick Visit

We visited Mercia Marina in Willington, South Derbyshire, where some people live on their narrow boats. People can also hire a boat for a holiday or take a boat trip along the Trent and Mersey Canal. We walked along the boardwalk and had a look at the narrow boats moored up.

It is the largest inland marina in europe, holding over 630 boats. Source

It is quite a chilled out place. There's lots of shops, cafes and beauticians over the lake, a sensory garden and various walks with children in mind.

There's a few sculptures about, my favourite being the giant fish called 'Hello Handsome', that is by artist Ted Edley. It has a steampunk feel to it. Source

As usual, our visit was finished off with a cup of coffee. You just have to dunk your biscuit!

It really is an interesting place to have a mooch around and look at the narrow boats, chill out in the cafes or do a bit of shopping.

Nice! Different walk by the water. That biscuit looks yummy! With the coffee! But I would have hot chocolate with biscuit.😂
I like a hot chocolate too.
