Fungi Friday: Along the Footpath and into the Woods

avatar

There still isn't much fungi about, so I've been collecting a few photos over the past few weeks from my many daily walks.

I found these recently. Some had died off but I found some new ones hiding in the brambles.

I think they look really good close up. I can always rely on this little footpath because parts of it doesn’t get much sun, so it's quite dank. I'm not sure many people know the path even exists, apart from the people who live next to it.

I think this is a willow bracket. It looks like a horse's hoof. It was growing out of the fallen tree along the path in one of my local woods. It was quite large so it caught my eye. It was also very woody and rock hard.

This was taken a couple of weeks back when we had a bit of snow on the ground. I think the snow made everything stand out more.

Even though fungi are scarce at the moment, it’s always worth knowing where to look. It is surprising what you can find hiding away.
