Feathered Friends - Birds Feeding.

(Edited)

At one of my favourite spots for walking, someone had put some bird food on the stone wall.

It wasn’t long before the birds came down to eat the food.

I always think of Christmas when I see robins. I think in my childhood most Christmas cards had robins on them.

We were taught at school that in Victorian days, postmen (they were usually men back then) were nicknamed “robins” because their uniforms were red breasted. So, the robin on the Christmas card symbolised the postman who delivered the cards.

Next came a little coal tit. It is a regular visitor when food like this is around.

The chaffinch is also a bird you will see on a regular basis, mainly feeding on the floor or wall and bird tables.

My favourite bird, the nuthatch. I like its shape with its long black pointed bill.

These are quite common so no not an expert. We call bird enthusiasts "twitchers" over here who will travel to see rare birds. These aren't rare and I only travelled 3 mile up the road. 😁😆🐦

My late dad liked bird watching. My brother knows all about birds. I just remember the easy ones! Yes, we went bird watching as kids. 😁
