Daffodils Among the Weeds and a Few Old Bottles

As the sun was out, I decided to plant a few bulbs in the communal garden. They are Lucky Clover - Red Cross and Triteleia, which I've never heard of. I've tried growing wildflowers a few times before, but failed miserably. Perhaps the seeds were too cheap. What do they say? Buy cheap, buy twice!

Anyway, the instructions on the back of the packet were pretty basic, ie dig a hole, throw the bulbs in. Yes, there is a teapot lid in the photo. This garden unearths quite a few odd things. Anyway, whether the bulbs grow is anyone's guess.

While making a hole, I came across two bottles. I used to go bottle digging, looking for old bottles at Victorian tips. The ones that aren't worth much, which bottle diggers call "mullock", are usually left where they were found. I loved finding anything, so I used to take them home and place them in the garden. One bottle has "Californian Fig Syrup" embossed on it.

We have a metal trunk in the garden. I planted some daffodils in it a few years ago. This year's stalks have appeared but no heads yet. The trunk was a bit overgrown with weeds, so I made it look a bit neater. I think after these daffodils have come and gone, I will plant the bulbs elsewhere. I'm finding the trunk yet another thing to have to weed.
Have you noticed that garden manufacturers make their garden products a pink colour or flowery to attract female gardeners?? This little rake was a gift. I wouldn't normally buy something like this.

Last year, I purchased some white pebbles to place along the border where all the weeds were coming through. They did help to stop the weeds appearing. Unfortunately, my neighbour who lives upstairs has a leaking overflow pipe which is watering the bloody weeds! I noticed this morning there was no leak, so hopefully it has been fixed. I decided to pull all the weeds up. When the weather gets warmer, I think I might place some membrane down and put the white pebbles on top to deter the weeds. Whether flowers or weeds win the battle, only time will tell.

Thank you @ewkaw and @qurator. 🙏
I haven't seen a daffodil flower.
They are yellow when they come through. They're very common here. Maybe in my next post they will be through. 🙂
Oh, I look forward to read your blog about that in the future.
