Clumber Park: Getting Ready for Halloween!
We visited Clumber Park near Nottinghamshire. It is a particular favourite spot of ours. It is getting closer to Halloween and that means one thing ... pumpkins!
In a couple of weeks the park will be celebrating Halloween with a pumpkin trail in the Walled Kitchen Garden and around the park.
It was getting dusk when we had a walk around the garden. As we are approaching Halloween it seemed an appropriate time to visit.
On the estate there are holiday cottages to rent out. There's a 'secret garden' so that you have your own personal access straight through to the walled garden, even when it's closed to the public.
Pumpkins come in many colours but the orange ones are the most popular. They really popped in the dusk.
I hate waste, so it was a nice touch giving leftovers to the wildlife.
They also had some lovely sunflowers, one of my favourite flowers.
All in all, another good day out and another step towards autumn.

Yes, it is especially when autumn comes around.
It's so lovely there. In a distant life, I used to be a volunteer Marshall on the RAC rally that always used to hold a special stage there.

I love the idea of using all their produce. An excellent way of exhibition and then putting it all to use. Does the secret garden offer anything different compared to the public access?
Only that, out of hours, you can wander around without the crowds. It's on a big estate and after 7 pm it all closes to the public so you have the forest and lake etc to yourself, which is quite cool.

Oh yes, that sounds amazing. Having some time away from the crowd to appreciate the place is totally worth it.
