A Walk through the 70 Acre Wood

It wasn't as foggy as I would have liked this morning as we entered the 70 Acre Wood for our #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay. It always looks atmospheric here when the fog is around. Never mind.

The sun came out now and again, casting some nice shadows on the ground.

We did hear a couple of woodpeckers hammering on a tree trunk but sadly couldn't locate them.

The marks on the trees are codes to let the forest workers know as to which trees are for the chop or those that require treatment for some sort of disease.

The nicer weather has at least dried the footpaths up. It was so good going back home without having sludgy feet.

On the outskirts of the wood was a lovely stone wall covered in spongy moss and lichen.

People had put seed and suet out on the wall for the birds, including the lovely looking blackbird. There's actually a little bank vole living in the wall as well. We saw it pop out, but we weren't quick enough to get a photo. I've been trying for a year now, but still no luck!

There were also a few bird feeders with long tailed tits and coal tits having a good feed.

There was definitely a touch of spring in the air as we made our way back to the car listening to the birds singing and watching a couple of robins, having a bit of a turf war battle .... and a squirrel turned up for the leftovers!

What a wholesome moment it sounds. The visual fog is looking so beautiful. Listening to the birds, returning to your car, amazing walk.

Thank you. There wasn't a lot of fog though, unfortunately.

I can understand why you hoped for fog, it would have given such a surreal feel, but still such an amazing place love the depth of the forest seeing layers of trees after trees

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Have a great day :)

I'm glad another photographer understands the need for fog. 😁

Wow! Amazing forest! Very atmospheric and mysterious too. Anything or anyone could pop up in the dark night!
