My Actifit Report Card: November 16 2021
Hey everybody and thanks for stopping by!
The flood of 2021 will go down in history as the worst for this area. 75% of the homes and businesses in Sumas have sustained flood damage. I have no word on how bad our church is.
In Everson, my workplace was flooded; tomorrow, if I can get there, I’m going to work to help begin the cleanup. Most roads in the county are closed, so that will be my stumbling block. I’ve seen a lot of video and pictures. It breaks my heart for those who are living this nightmare. I saw a news story tonight of a man who got caught in the flood on a stretch of road I traverse almost daily. The water took his car and he got out and was last seen clinging to a tree. He drove past a road closure sign to go to work. They are looking for his body; he was a father of 4. So sad…..
The rain has stopped and the sun came out today. We headed out for a hike.
Looking out towards Bellingham Bay.
As of tonight, we are cut off from town; whether Everson, Sumas, Lynden or Bellingham. We will see what tomorrow brings.
This next picture-the ‘shiny’ things is the sun reflecting off of buildings in Vancouver BC, Canada.
That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and have a blessed evening! 👣🐑🛶🛶🛶🤗☕️🙏😴

Oh goodness! That's an awfully sad, sad story.
The waters must be deep!
What caused the flooding, or does it normally flood in the city?
Hey @silversaver888! No, we had a similar but not quite as bad of a flood back in early 2020. However this time, we had been having a lot of rain. Then a front moved in that poured over 8" of rain in about 2 and a half days. The river breached the levy south of Everson and then proceeded to follow the path it usually does. Last year, it didn't make it into the town of Everson to the extent it did this time. My clinic I work for, was not flooded then, but was this time. City Hall had 6 feet of water in it, just a block and a half down from the clinic.
The man I spoke of was just outside of the town proper and in the area where some years ago, I drove through a foot of water that actually pushed my car sideways. We are talking a raging river much deeper. I fear he is dead; I see no way for him to have survived.
I am headed in to work tomorrow if they've opened the road and it's safe to traverse it. I will take pics as I go. I will turn around if it's not safe. We can't operate the clinic until the mess is cleaned up.
Thanks for stopping by sis! Hugs and kisses!🤗🌸💕😘
So sad about the father who went missing in the flood, can't imagine what it must feel like to bid your father goodbye in the morning only to be told later he wouldn't be coming back home 😔 my heart goes to them.
Nature can be beautiful but when she rages becomes a force of destruction, stay safe.
Very aptly put. Sad indeed. Take care!
It's amazing!

Hello @elizabethbit
Hope you are safe 🤗
Hi @dontcare89! Yes, we are safe; it's been a long day; my workplace was flooded and it's a mess. Could have been much worse though. Thanks for stopping by!
