Me resulta increíble que cuando yo veía béisbol en la década de 1990 aún cuando nuestro país pasaba por el periodo especial, yo me asombraba ver a Cuba perder en un evento internacional, fuera frente al país que fuera, nos mal adaptamos a ver a nuestro país ganar siempre, y eso nos ha destruido por los años de los años. Por nuestro país el abridor fue el zurdo de Pinar del Río Randy Román Martínez, que aunque tenga solo 22 años, ya pertenece al sistema de granjas de los Dragones de Chunnichi.
