Hello dear Hivers, I hope you are doing well and have a very nice day! Recently I was outside and found a mushroom, in the middle of wintertime, which I would like to introduce to you. Winter mushrooms are particularly interesting in terms of the active ingredient component, since the mushroom has to produce more immunity due to the cold times.

This fungus is called velvet shank (Flammulina velutipes) and the special thing about this mushroom is that it can also be found in frost and snow. It is an edible mushroom and it usually grows between autumn and spring between the end of October and March and has an orange to brown color. This mushroom is particularly widespread in Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea and China, but it can also be found in Europe, but less often.

In the most cases, this fungus grows on dead or living hardwood or pastures and it usually grows in small groups. In japan, this fungus is called Enoki and is considered an effective medicinal mushroom, which is rich in active ingredients such as enokipodins, vitamins and minerals. This mushroom is also known in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and it is used in a variety of ways such as against flu, stabilization of the immune system, lowering blood pressure and many more.

In other words, it could have helped in 2020, times of the corona virus, the immune system needed a lot of help, you say that it is edible and medicinal of course, the truth is I respect mushrooms since I don't recognize which ones are edible and which ones are not, that's why I go to the supermarket to buy them, the mushrooms are delicious in different sauces

So it can also be said, there are so many plants and mushrooms that have been healing people for thousands of years, what is often forgotten sadly. Especially because of risk of confusion and wrong application or incorrect dosage, you should be well informed when collecting mushrooms. I fully agree, some mushrooms can be so delicious! Have a nice start to the new year!
