You can see here a stunning work of art by the painter Johann Michael Wittmer (1802 - 1880) who has set the poet and writer Aesop from ancient Greece as a model for this work, who is also known as the founder of European fables. Wittmer was influenced by art very early on and comes from a family of artists and he was born in Murnau and his father died in early years and he was raised by his stepfather who unfortunately, was not so interested in art and Wittler had saved money to finally attend an art academy in Munich at the age of 18 and later he decided to go to Italy where he had been very interested in culture and mythology, which should have an important meaning in his later works. His coming years were very hard for him and it was difficult for him to gain a foothold until he was later lucky and met the King of Bavaria Maximilian II (1811 - 1864) from the house of Wittelsbach and could even travel with him and there he had the task create works of art for him. On his travels, he learned a lot about the culture or history of other countries and he occupied him for a few years and also on his return he was in the service of Maximilian II until there were some disasters in his life and he had withdrawn for some time to regain strength, but the relationship between the two continued. He was also closely connected with German artists who lived in Rome and an important member of this group and he was particularly popular for his historical pictures like in this work which he had painted with oil paints and creates a great mood and colors look very lively and he worked with a high level of detail and created a work that is at a high level from an artistic point of view.
