Monomad - Fragaria vesca
Hey dear community, I wish you a pleasant start to the new week and hope you had a good weekend! In this post, I would like to present one or the other black and white picture as my entry for the #monomad challenge.
You can see here the wild strawberry which I recently photographed and is also scientifically called Fragaria vesca. I would like to go specifically into the mythology of this fruit, which can be found in many different cultures. In Norse mythology, wild strawberries are associated with the goddess Frigg and also symbolically stands for fertility and life.
In Greek mythology, there is also a legend which is associated with an drama. Adonis, was revered by the goddess of love Aphrodite and the queen of the underworld Persephone. The god of war Ares, the lover of Aphrodite became very angry with jealousy and turned into a boar and hurt Adonis very much. Aphrodite observes this whole situation and began to cry and when her tears fell to the ground, roses emerged and anemones grew from the blood of Adonis, which also fell to the ground. As the blood and tears mixed, the wild strawberries grew from it.
In Norse mythology there is also a legend that says that the goddess Frigg had hidden dead children in the strawberry in order to be able to take them unnoticed to Valhalla. Valhalla was considered the place of the glorious and fallen heroes who died on the battlefield. Also in art history, wild strawberries can often be found and are symbolized in numerous paintings and even in ancient Rome it was revered by poets.
Fragaria vesca is also associated with the planet Venus and is also known as a magical plant, which is already worshipped in the Middle Ages. In numerous myths you will find different legends about the wild strawberry and I generally find it very interesting to learn new things about the mythology behind plants in general.
Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you like my new entry! I used my camera Sony Alpha 6000 and Sony SEL-55210 Telephoto Zoom Lens (55-210mm) to take these pictures.

How does it taste my friend. Does it as sweet as the cultivated strawberries?
!hiqvotes
I would describe the taste as different. Rather sour with a sweet note. Personally, I like the taste much more and of course it is more natural.

Wow, such beautiful legends around a single flower, Fragaria vesca. I love the love battle between the goddess and how it birthed these beauties you shared today. But I love the legend about hiding children to take the city of the fallen heroes more. Thank you for sharing, all the best in the contest
I’m glad to hear that you like my post and I think it’s strong that you are also generally interested in mythology, which is associated with plants :) Have a nice day
All these small Flowers looks so beautiful and cute. By seeing natural things, the heart of man becomes very happy.
Many thanks for stopping by and your inspiring words which I can only fully agree with :)
In mythology there is a lot of imagination, tears and blood give rise to strawberries, well, they are goddesses, so anything is possible.
You are a fan of mythology, you have already said it, I like this theme in the movies, all this dynasty of gods and their powers is fascinating
That's true, there are so many interesting legends in mythology! Unfortunately there are fewer and fewer of them in the current time, I personally would be open to use my imagination :) You said that well, I actually inform myself much about the mythology of different cultures and find it amazing how diverse the topic is. Have a nice day plus a good week dear @lupega
