Recently I had the opportunity to take pictures of this lekythos which was made of clay and it probably comes from a Greek workshop in Apulia which is located in Italy and this historical place known for the diverse art. Due to influences from the colonization of the ancient Greeks, it came to the fact that influences of Greek culture were anchored in the area of Apulia and it is clear from tradition that the area was an important trading center for metal goods in the Mediterranean region during the Bronze Age. A lekythos is a vessel for storing and pouring noble liquids and it was used in ancient times for various purposes and was often used in the cosmetic field of women and has also been used for ritual events. It was most often used for the storage of oil for the domestic use and this specimen looks more manageable than the usual standing forms and is a good example of an extravagant lekythos that probably originated around 300 BC. The appearance can vary depending on the workshop and it is typically to depict heads of people or animals and also the shape can differ greatly and in this specimen the lekythos has the head of an eagle and was painted after the production process and often it was also painted on the side with scenes of historical or mythological events. Over time, the technique of production also changed and the type of painting was adapted and discoveries from different times show that the color of the clay changed and became brighter over time and the used colors also changed more and more and new possibilities for the production of pigments were constantly found.

The more vintage items are, the more special they are and the more beautiful their designs are also very good.
