Hey dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you are well and your day was full of positive experiences! In this post, I would like to bring a mushroom a little closer and hope you can learn something new.

Here you can see a mushroom from the genus Leccinum and they are mycorrhizal fungi which are usually in symbiosis with trees or plants and are extremely important for the forest from an ecological point of view. If you want to learn more about the ecological benefits of mushrooms, I can recommend this article from me where I have already discussed this important topic in more detail here. There are about 60 different species which belong to this genus and one of the main characteristics is the hat, which usually has an orange, brown or yellow appearance and the color can vary depending on the level of development. After the mushroom has been picked and comes into contact with the air, the meat discolors extremely quickly and takes a purple or red appearance and the appearance of the stem is often reminiscent of sheds and the smell is just like the taste relatively mild and inconspicuous. Mushrooms of this genus are usually found from summer to autumn and it is widespread worldwide and usually all mushrooms of this genus are edible, but as always, it is important when searching that if you are not sure to just leave the fungus or ask someone for advice!
