Here you can see pictures of the flower of the plum which is also known under the scientific name Prunus domestica and this plant already has a long history behind it and it is believed that it comes from the area between the Altai Mountains and the Caucasus. The Romans brought it to Europe where it has been cultivated more and more and during the Middle Ages it was probably also cultivated by Charlemagne from the Carolingian dynasty and already in earlier times, it was used for a variety of purposes and it was considered a magical plant that can help protect the location from negative influences and today it is a popular fruit. The wood was a great basis for the production of instruments and it also has a high priority in Asia where it is often associated with wisdom as a fruit and there it is widely cultivated and processed from a commercial point of view and has often been represented in art as on porcelain pieces. In Chinese mythology, it was even considered a fruit of immortality or a sign of the beginning of spring and there are numerous legends that arose around the plant and the use as an oracle plant or aphrodisiac was also popular. Not to be neglected is also the ecological benefit and the value of pollen and nectar is extremely high and the white flowers are visited by different species of insects such as bees, bumblebees or hoverflies. The pollination can also be attributed to bees, which can even ensure that the yield is increased, however, most species are able to pollinate themselves and because of the growth it also offers a popular location for birds and often you can also see caterpillars or beetles there.
