Field scabiosa (Knauitia arvensis)
Hello dear Hiveans! I've been out in nature lately and found a really beautiful flower and took photos that I'd like to share with you! The name of this flower is field scabiosa or scientifically Knauitia arvensis.
This purple and blue flower can be found throughout Europe as well as in parts of Asia. Thanks to the well-known botanist Carl von Linné (1707 - 1778), the plant in the 17th century received the name.
The preferred location of this plant is on meadows, fields or roadsides and will be up to 100 cm high and the soil should be dry and rich in lime. The months of flowering are May, June, July and August and September and the plant is also very popular with insects.
Another special feature of Knauitia arvensis is certainly the positive effect on health. History shows that the plant was already used in early times against various diseases such as skin problems. In this day and age, it is no longer used so often even though the plant is rich in useful ingredients.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you liked my post, I took the photos with my iPhone 12.
