Good day dear community, at the beginning I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you had a day that brought numerous positive experiences into your life! Today I would like to talk a little about art and hope you are able to expand your knowledge about this exciting topic.

Various oil paintings by the two artists Leo von König (1871 - 1944) and Franz S. Gebhardt-Westerbuchberg (1895 - 1969) can be seen here and the works I photographed were all painted in different color mixtures and I would like to use them to specifically address the effect of colors in art. In one of my last contributions, I have already discussed in more detail the effect of art on the subconscious, where I have already briefly addressed the topic and who should be interested in the topic and would like to look at art from a completely different perspective, here is my contribution. Without colors, artists would have a hard time creating their works and choosing the right colors is a huge factor when it comes to the effect on the viewer and colors are used specifically to trigger certain emotions and while cooler colors often create a rather sad mood, it are the warmer ones that make us feel better when looking. Colors are able to trigger pretty much all kinds of feelings and often in art history it was also an important tool to express symbolism and here in different cultures there are very own interpreters around the meaning of certain colors and this type of symbolism is an important way to integrate subliminal messages into the works.

The better we feel when looking at certain works of art, the higher is also the memory value of this moment and so by using certain colors the artist can ensure that people remember the works better or look at it several times and this association is linked to the subconscious. For every suitable scenario that is to be expressed, there are the right colors and when it comes to painting landscapes or plants, you can especially see the color green, which in turn creates a feeling of calming or harmony and suggests to the viewer often as if he were on place himself. Also by mixing the different shades, the artist can create some effects and a good example are the different times of the day and paler shades make it easier to create a morning, cloudy or rainy mood and stronger colors generally bring more liveliness and the appearance of good weather into the works. If you use dark colors in the sky, the artist can create a special mood like on a stormy day and darker colors usually give the pictures also an occult or gloomy flair and also an evening mood can be created by this way.

The mixture of different colors is also interesting when it comes to the effect and I have an example of a gloomy room in front of my eyes in which there is a table with a candle in the middle, which is supposed to illuminate the room and by combining light and dark colors you can introduce a stylish transition. Purple colors often produce a very special kind of mysticism and spirituality and red or orange, on the other hand, heat and is often considered a more aggressive color, but can also be associated with passion and these are just a few examples of how artists can create feelings by choosing the right colors. By using numerous different colors, as you often see in abstract art, you can specifically influence the subconscious and this sensory overload of the different colors can also change perception. The artists can create a high recognition value by using strong or eye-catching colors and specifically direct the viewer's eye to a certain object and finally it can definitely be said that if the painter masters the choice of the right colors, he also dominates the impression of the viewer as it is anchored in his imagination.
