Aesthetic corn flower (Centaurea cyanus)
Hello dear Hiveans! Recently I saw a beautiful blue flower called cornflower. The scientific name of this plant is Centaurea cyanus and it belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae). Cornflowers have a long flowering period and it blooms from May to October.
Centaurea cyanus originally comes from the eastern Mediterranean area and is now widespread in Europe. This plant can often be found on meadows or the edges of cornfields, and so the name cornflower is associated.
Like some plants that I have already presented on my blog in the past, the corn flower is also a plant with medicinal properties. Effects are the inhibition of inflammation, hemostatic and diuretic. For this reason, the cornflower can be used in many ways against different diseases. The flowers of the herb are mostly used and it is rich in celery and bitter substances.
When it comes to symbolism, this plant has gained a well known role throughout history. There are many different meanings of the plant such as in spirituality and in the 19th century it became a symbol of naturalness. In France, the cornflower Bleuet de France is a symbol of remembrance for people who died in war.
Of course, I hope that you like my post and thanks for watching. I took the photos with my iPhone 12.
A unique and beautiful flower.
Thanks!
I loved Asteraceae family of plants. And looks how the color of that wild flora. 😍 Does it had a health benefits too?
Glad you like it! I am also a fan of the Asteraceae family. The cornflower is relatively universal when it comes to the healthy effect. For example it is used against wounds, fever, lung problems and more diseases.
