¡Hola, gente linda de Hive!💗
When I discovered this month's theme in the #DIYHub community I instantly knew I had to participate. It's no secret that I love cats intensely, they are one of my favorite animals, I admire and love them, and my secret dream is that one day I can create a shelter for stray cats and dogs.
I'm a fan of every object that has some cat detail, so I've been enjoying every tutorial for this contest; in all of them I'm like: "aaww, how cute🥺", so it was my moment to join the community and give my contribution to celebrate the existence of the wonder that cats are 💖.
Cuando descubrí la temática de este mes en la comunidad #DIYHub supe al instante que debía participar. Para nadie es un secreto que amo intensamente a los gatos, son uno de mis animales favoritos, los admiro y me encantan, y mi sueño secreto es que algún día pueda crear un refugio para gatos y perros callejeros.
Soy fan de cada objeto que tenga algún detalle gatuno, así que he estado disfrutando cada tutorial para este concurso; en todos estoy como: "aaww, qué lindo🥺", así que era mi momento para unirme a la comunidad y dar mi aporte para celebrar la existencia de la maravilla que son los gatos💖
✨ Materials || Materiales ✨
I didn't have a concrete idea about what to make, and in those moments I must go to Pinterest so my inspiration and creativity can blossom, and there I found several very cool, beautiful and easy to make ideas, but then I decided I wanted to make something for my baby, that is, my cat Lys 💜 Because she, and my dog Luna, are the great loves of my life, and I love making things for them. That's how I found this really very simple idea to craft a house for our little furry ones. I felt motivated because I had all the materials, and here I explain to you how to make it.
You will need:
Cardboard
2 Clothes hooks
Hole punch
Adhesive tape
A very wide shirt, preferably size L or XL
A cat (you can't miss it!)
And your favorite music✨
No tenía una idea concreta sobre qué hacer, y en esos momentos debo ir a Pinterest para que mi inspiración y creatividad puedan florecer, y allí encontré varias ideas muy geniales, hermosas y fáciles de hacer, pero luego decidí que quería hacer algo para mi bebé, es decir, mi gata Lys 💜 Porque ella, y mi perra Luna, son los grandes amores de mi vida, y me encanta hacerles cosas. Así fue como encontré esta idea, realmente muy sencilla, para elaborar una casa para nuestros pequeños peludos. Me sentí motivada porque tenía todos los materiales, y aquí te explico cómo hacerla.
Vas a necesitar:
Cartón
2 Ganchos de ropa
Perforadora
Cinta adhesiva
Una camisa muy ancha, preferiblemente talla L o XL
¡Un gato! (No puede faltar)
Y tu música favorita✨
✨ Step 1 || Paso 1 ✨
The first thing to do is to prepare a perfect square of cardboard, in my case, I used a pizza box. You are going to place your cat on top of the cardboard, to measure that the size is right for your pet, since, for example, my cat loves to sleep very stretched out, so it had to be big enough for her to stretch her little paws.
Lo primero que debes hacer es preparar un cuadrado perfecto de cartón, en mi caso, utilicé una caja de pizza. Vas a colocar a tu gato arriba del cartón, para medir que el tamaño sea el adecuado para tu mascota, dado que, por ejemplo, a mi gata le encanta dormir muy estirada, así que debía ser suficientemente grande para que ella pueda estirar sus patitas.
✨ Step 2 || Paso 2 ✨
After you have measured your cat, you are going to punch out each end of the cardboard. It was easy for me because the cardboard of a pizza box is not that strong, so I recommend it.
Después de haber medido a tu gato, vas a perforar cada extremo del cartón. Para mí fue fácil porque el cartón de una caja de pizza no es tan fuerte, así que se los recomiendo.
✨ Step 3 || Paso 3 ✨
The hardest and most stressful part is the next one: you have to disassemble the clothes hangers. You know the top part that's curled up? Well, you're going to open it. Obviously, you can use any tool to help make the job easier, but since I was a little upset at the time I did it all with my hands, as a way to drain the anger. And amazingly, I was able to do it without any discomfort.
After you open it up, you're going to try to lay it as straight as you can, especially at the extremes. And then, you're going to fold them in half, as shown in the photo below⬇.
La parte más difícil y estresante es la siguiente: debes desarmar los ganchos de ropa. ¿Sabes la parte superior que está enroscada? Pues, la vas a abrir. Obviamente, puedes utilizar cualquier herramienta que te ayude a facilitar el trabajo, pero dado que yo estaba un poco molesta en ese momento lo hice todo con mis manos, como una manera de drenar la ira. E increíblemente pude hacerlo sin ninguna molestia.
Después de abrirlo, vas a tratar de colocarlo lo más recto que puedas, especialmente en los extremos. Y luego, los vas a doblar en la mitad, como aparece en la foto de abajo⬇

✨ Step 4 || Paso 4 ✨
Now, you are going to pass each end of the wire in the opposite holes and in diagonal direction, as shown in the photo. It should look like a small pyramid. And with a lot of tape you are going to join the upper part of this "pyramid", so that the wires don't move and stay still.
At the bottom, you are going to bend the wire inwards, so that it cannot come out.
Ahora, vas a pasar cada extremo del alambre en los orificios opuestos y en dirección diagonal, como se muestra en la foto. Debe quedar como una pequeña pirámide. Y con bastante cinta adhesiva vas a unir la parte superior de esta "pirámide", para que los alambre no se muevan y se mantengan parados.
En la parte de abajo, van a doblar el alambre hacia adentro, de manera que no pueda salirse.
✨ Step 5 || Paso 5 ✨
With the shirt you have chosen, you are going to “dress” the house. The shirt that was in the photo of the materials didn't work for me, because it was too small, and the fabric did not stretch, for that reason I recommend a large shirt, preferably with a round neck.
After searching in my closet, and in my parents' closet, I didn't find any shirt that fit me, but my grandmother came to the rescue, with an old, pink and lace sweater, that really matched Lys because she is like a princess💕 And this one did look perfect. You have to cover all the cardboard and wires with the fabric, keep the sleeves inside (but in my case, as they were long, I tied them in a loop in the back), as the sweater had a loose neck, the “door” was that way, but the truth is that I liked it, it looks like a tent for camping.
Con la camisa que hayan escogido van a "vestir" la casa. La camisa que estaba en la foto de los materiales no me funcionó, porque era muy pequeña y la tela no se estiraba, por esa razón les recomiendo que sea una camisa grande, preferiblemente de cuello redondo.
Después de buscar en mi armario, y en el armario de mis padres, no encontré ninguna camisa que me sirviera, pero mi abuela llegó al rescate, con un suéter viejo, rosado y de encaje, que realmente combinaba con Lys porque ella es como una princesa💕 Y este si quedó perfecto. Debes tapar todo el cartón y los alambres con la tela, guardar las mangas hacia adentro (pero en mi caso, como eran largas, las amarré en un lazo en la parte de atrás), como el suéter tenía un cuello holgado, la "puerta" quedó de esa manera, pero la verdad es que me gustó, parece como una tienda para acampar.

That's it!✨ In a very simple way, and with easy to find materials, you can create a small house for your pets, especially for kittens, who love to hide in small places. They are going to feel safe and very comfortable.
My cat didn't accept it at first, and it took me three days to get her to trust it a bit. I put her pillow inside, put some catnip and chicken there, but nothing, she kept looking at everything ugly, nothing will make her leave my bed (her favorite place), however, I have hopes that little by little she will gain confidence, and one day find her hiding there🥺
¡Eso es todo!✨ De una manera muy sencilla, y con materiales fáciles de encontrar, pueden crear una pequeña casa para sus mascotas, especialmente para los gatitos, que les encanta esconderse en lugares pequeños. Se va a sentir seguro y muy cómodo.
Mi gata al principio no lo aceptaba, y me tomó tres días para que le tomara un poco de confianza. Coloqué su almohada adentro, puse un poco de gatarina y pollo allí, pero nada, ella seguía mirando feo todo, nada hará que abandone mi cama (su lugar preferido), sin embargo, tengo esperanzas de que poco a poco le agarre confianza, y un día encontrarla allí escondida🥺

Estoy segura que cuando menos lo pienses Lys entrará y se dormirá ahí, pero no es cuando tú quieras sino cuando a ella le provoque 🤣🤣. Que por cierto, que hermosa quedó, definitivamente ese suéter le dió el toque perfecto 😌💕
