Argiope anasuja

I have tried to find out the name of this spider in Indonesia, including Wikipedia, but it turns out it has only a Latin name.

I might be wrong, even my father doesn't quite sure the name of this spider. This spider is called Argiope anasuja and according to wikipedia it is usually can be found from Seychelles to the Maldives.

But it turns out that this spider has already been in Bali for so long. Because I have seen this kind of spider since I was a little kid.

It has several colors in its back, with white yellow, black and a bit of red on its back side.

While on its belly side, only has white, black and yellow colors.

They mostly stay in the center of their web and get ready to kill their prey when they are strangle on its web.

Just like this insect which I found already being strangled to death by the spider web.

I am lucky to see the juvenile of this Argiope anasuja, which stays side by side with the adult one. But it didn't have the color stripes yet on its backside.

It's just too bad, I can't get it really on focus. Better luck, next time I see the juvenile one.
