Otoño

Acá espero la alborada
En el banco de nuestra plaza
Miro pasar a la gente
Los vehículos las bicicletas…

Veo rostros sonrientes y caras largas,
Veo pasar el tiempo en el vuelo del colibrí
Mientras te espero
Paciente y con un poco de desdén

Desde aquella vez que te dije
Siéntate a mi lado
Te espero
Con la mirada firme
Y la espalda derecha
Mientras contemplo la lluvia
Y los cambios del cielo

Te espero y no llegas
Me pregunto por qué tardas

Ven, siéntate a mi lado
Y esperemos a que pase
El viento con nuestras voces
Y que se convierta en eco
Nuestras conversaciones

Pero no llegas y el otoño
Llega y cae la nieve

El momento justo cuando te
Veo y te sientas a mi lado

Ahora sí, compañero de viaje
Mira por última vez el espectáculo
Mientras descanso
Sentado junto a ti
Porque el viaje será ligero
Y llegaremos pronto,
Así que no te preocupes por nada
Porque el día será limpio
Y tu sonrisa se notará por última vez
Mientras descansas.

Autumn

Here I wait for the dawn
On the bench in our square
I watch people go by
The vehicles, the bicycles…

I see smiling faces and long faces,
I see time passing in the flight of the hummingbird
As I wait for you
Patiently and with a little disdain

Since that time I told you
Sit by my side
I wait for you
With a firm gaze
And my back straight
As I contemplate the rain
And the changes in the sky

I wait for you and you don't come
I wonder why you're late

Come, sit by my side
And let's wait for the wind to blow
With our voices
And turn our conversations
Into an echo

But you don't come and autumn arrives
And the snow falls

The very moment I see you
And you sit by my side

Now, yes, travel companion
Look one last time at the show
As I rest
Sitting next to you
Because the journey will be light
And we'll arrive soon,
So don't worry about anything
Because the day will be clear
And your smile will be seen one last time
As you rest.
