Dicen que en el pueblo de La Paz sucedió algo muy extraño, algo que dejó perplejo a todos los que fueron a ver el caso. Dicen que toda la gente del pueblo desapareció, incluso los muertos del cementerio.

Yo me enteré porque Rogelio fue a visitar a su familia, y llegó acá angustiado y pegando gritos. Luego una delegación de la policía de Guayatal fue a verificar los hechos, y quedaron consternados.

A mi me llamaron para hacer la evaluación forense. Claro, primero hablé con Rogelio, a quien conocí de la época de la universidad. Era una muchacho alegre, poco aplicado para los estudios pero buen compañero. Al final, terminó dejando la universidad y regresó a La Paz, donde se hizo comerciante. Iba y venía del Guayatal a La Paz.

Como fue el primero en llegar a la escena... ¿del crimen?... tuvimos que interrogarlo, aunque más que interrogatorio, porque el pobre estaba desconsolado y no podía siquiera relatar lo que había visto. Estaba pegado al suelo. Cuando me acerqué a examinarlo me pude percatar de que, en efecto, era el cráneo de un perro. La pregunta era ¿cómo llegó hasta allí y cómo es que no se puede despegar del suelo?

Una comisión se quedó en el lugar de los hechos. Dicen que ellos también desaparecieron. Al día siguiente, cuando volvimos a hacer las experticias, encontramos la carpa vacía, los instrumentos volcados en el piso. No se llevaron nada.

Así que tengan cuidado. Porque hay rumores que dicen que el cráneo abre un portal y seres de otra dimensión o de quién sabe dónde salen y raptan a todo el que encuentren a su paso. Yo no lo creo, por eso estoy aquí, para develar el verdadero misterio del pueblo de La Paz.
