What's up my people? That's right, today we will be discussing a series that finished its first season some time ago and of which the second season is being aired. Let's see, when I say it's over, I mean that it has already finished its first season because we are just getting into this adventure. It is a series that a priori makes me very strange to review because in general I don't like its genre and I'm talking about nothing more and nothing less than Mushoku Tensei, the definitive Isekai. Or at least that's how a lot of people who watch Isekais categorize it. I for one don't, it doesn't convince me, but well, we'll talk about that later. In my top of anime this series was ranked number 2 being surpassed only and exclusively by Odd Taxi. I put it above Tokyo Revengers and above Ousama Ranking. So you can imagine more or less what my impression is.

¿Qué tal gente? Así es, hoy debatiremos sobre una serie que ya acabó su primera temporada hace tiempo y de la cual se está transmitiendo la segunda. A ver cuando digo que ya acabó me refiero a que ya culminó su primera temporada porque recién nos estamos adentrando en esta aventura. Es una serie que a priori se me hace muy extraño reseñar porque en general su género no me termina de gustar y estoy hablando nada más ni nada menos que de Mushoku Tensei, el Isekai definitivo. O por lo menos así es como lo catalogan muchísimas personas que ven Isekais. Yo por mi parte no lo hago, no me termina de convencer, pero bueno, eso ya lo hablaremos más adelante. En mi top de animes esta serie ocupaba el puesto número 2 siendo superado único y exclusivamente por Odd Taxi. Lo puse por encima de Tokyo Revengers y encima de Ousama Ranking. Por lo cual ya se pueden llegar a imaginar más o menos cuál es mi impresión.

Obviously, I liked it quite a bit, but I don't think it's perfect by any means. Now, let's discuss Mushoku Tensei and what I think of this anime. Let's start by talking about the genre. As I said personally, Isekai is not a genre I like very much, but I still watch it. Rather, it seems to me that it has already become a bit tedious and repetitive. Why? Because of the following. Obviously, there are many works that I liked that could be called Isekai. Clear example, Sony Boy or Wonder Egg Priority can be called Isekai. Personally, I don't do it that way.

Obviamente, me gustó bastante, pero no creo que sea perfecto ni mucho menos. Ahora sí, vamos a comentar Mushoku Tensei y qué me parece este anime. Arranquemos hablando del género. Como dije personalmente, los Isekai no es un género que me gusté mucho, pero aun así lo veo. Más bien me parece que ya se ha vuelto un poco tedioso y repetitivo. ¿Por qué? Por lo siguiente. Obviamente, hay muchas obras que me han gustado que se podían llegar a denominar como Isekai. Ejemplo claro, Sony Boy o Wonder Egg Priority pueden ser denominados Isekai. The Isekai I kind of associate it a little bit more with something fantasy. You have to be sent to another world and here you have things like something medieval, some magic, mythical creatures and so on. That's why I associate them as Isekai. Taten no Yuusha, SAO, Re Zero and Mushoku Tensei on the other hand, yes, for me those are Isekais. And why I don't like it? Well, for the fact that I feel it's the most exploited genre nowadays. Every season there are at least 5 Isekais and I personally don't like watching them at all. I feel that they all look slightly alike and make the same mistakes.

Al Isekai yo como que lo asocio un poquito más a algo fantasioso. Tienes que ser enviado a otro mundo y acá tener cosas como algo medieval, algo de magia, criaturas míticas y demás. Es por eso que las asocio como Isekai. Taten no Yuusha, SAO, Re Zero y Mushoku Tensei en cambio, sí, para mí sí son Isekais esos. ¿Y por qué no me termina de gustar? Bueno, por el hecho de que siento que es el género más explotado actualmente. Cada temporada salen mínimo como 5 Isekais y personalmente no me motiva verlos ni por asomo. Siento que ligeramente todos se parecen y cometen los mismos errores.

To begin with, I don't hide and say that I started watching Mushoku Tensei because it obviously has a very good animation and I decided to get into it solely and exclusively because of that. But when I started watching it and I saw that they developed some things that I didn't like in the other Isekais, but in this one, I realized why they call it the definitive Isekai.

Pero ese no fue el caso con Mushoku Tensei. Para empezar, no me escondo y digo que Mushoku Tensei lo inicié a ver porque obviamente tiene una animación muy buena y decidí adentrarme única y exclusivamente por eso. Pero cuando comencé a ver la obra y vi que desarrollaban algunas cosas que no me terminaba de gustar en los otros Isekais, pero en este sí, ahí me di cuenta de por qué lo llaman el Isekai definitivo.

The story is also nothing to write about, it's obviously something that we've obviously seen and obviously the synopsis is as follows. We have a 30 year old guy who is a recluse in his normal life, he's a virgin and he's someone who was super bullied, who dies and is sent to this world, to this fantasy world where we will see him grow, train to become stronger and have multiple adventures. In general ranges we can say we can hear quite similar because we also have in a way a harem, something that is quite recurrent in the Isekais.

La historia tampoco es nada del otro mundo, es algo que obviamente hemos visto y obviamente la sinopsis es la siguiente. Tenemos a un chico de 30 años que es recluido en su vida normal, es un virgen y es alguien que le hacían superbullying, el cual muere y es enviado a este mundo, a este mundo de fantasía donde lo veremos crecer, entrenar para volverse más fuerte y tener múltiples aventuras. En rangos generales se puede digamos oír bastante parecido porque también tenemos de cierta manera un harem, cosa que es bastante recurrente en los Isekais.

So what differentiates it from the other Isekais? Well, let's talk a little bit about that. For me, one of the strongest points that Mushoku Tensei has is its world and how it expands it and how it shows it to us the viewers. The world building, the expansion of the universe, is something very important in a work and to see that the universe is rich and let's say it feels alive is wonderful.

Entonces, ¿qué lo diferencia de los otros Isekais? Bueno, vamos a hablar un poco de eso. Para mí, uno de los puntos más fuertes que tiene Mushoku Tensei es su mundo y cómo lo expande y cómo nos lo muestra a nosotros los espectadores. El world building, la expansión del universo, es algo muy importante en una obra y ver que el universo esté rico y digamos se sienta vivo es maravilloso.

There is something that I don't like too much in other Isekais and it is something very simple and that is that for example in the whole universe the same language is spoken. You show us different races, different villages and different ways of living, but they all speak the same thing. That's something that I don't really like. And here in Mushoku Tensei that's not the case. Here we can have wizards, warriors, royalty, men, beasts, furs, dragons and it's not all going to be the same.

Hay algo que no me termina de gustar demasiado en otros Isekais y es algo sumamente sencillo y es que por ejemplo en todo el universo se hable el mismo idioma. Nos muestras distintas razas, distintas aldeas y distintas formas de vivir, pero todos hablan lo mismo. Eso es algo que no termina de gustarme. Y acá en Mushoku Tensei eso no es así. Acá podemos tener magos, guerreros, gente de la realeza, hombres, bestias, furros, dragones y no va a ser todo igual.

We have different races and we have different languages. There are going to be episodes where we will realize that they are speaking a totally different language and not only because of that, but we are also going to see how Rudeus starts to get interested in these languages.

Tenemos distintas razas y tenemos también distintos idiomas. Van a haber episodios donde nos daremos cuenta de que están hablando de un idioma totalmente distinto y no solamente por eso, sino también vamos a ver cómo Rudeus comienza a interesarse en estos idiomas.

He begins to study for example the language of the beastmen and this will help him a lot to be able to communicate with this kind of people later on. One of the things I also like is the design of the villages. As I said, there are different races, so there are different comforts or different ways of living. General range is there are different cultures. Beastmen, for example, live in villages that are on top of big trees, which makes it logical seeing the characteristic of the race. We have small villages like Rudeus' home village which is cozy, since we have field work and we have small villages, but then for example we also have Roxy's home village which is quiet, since her people communicate by telepathy and so we can go through quite a few villages and this is something very important, because as I said it gives life to the world and not only shows us the style of people that exist but also in the myths and legends that run throughout this universe. The clearest example are the superd of which let's say they are an excluded race, since it was believed that they brought evil, but not only that, since we will see for example how Rudeus uses the name of an ancient group to form an identity with his friends and that they are revered. I personally love these little things and it is definitely a positive point for the story.

Comienza a estudiar por ejemplo el idioma de los hombres bestia y esto lo va a ayudar muchísimo para más adelante poder comunicarse con este estilo de gente. Una de las cosas que también me gusta es el diseño de las aldeas. Como les dije, hay distintas razas, por lo cual hay distintas comodidades o distintas formas de vivir. Rango general es hay distintas culturas. Los hombres bestias, por ejemplo, viven en aldeas que están arriba de grandes árboles, lo que lo hace lógico viendo la característica de la raza. Tenemos aldeas chiquitas como lo es la aldea natal de Rudeus que se hace acogedora, ya que tenemos trabajo de campo y tenemos aldeas reducidas, pero luego por ejemplo también tenemos la aldea natal de Roxy la cual es callada, ya que su gente se comunica mediante telepatía y así podemos seguir por bastantes aldeas y esto es algo muy importante, ya que como dije le da vida al mundo y no solamente nos muestra en el estilo de gente que existe sino también en los mitos y leyendas que corren a lo largo de este universo. El ejemplo más claro son los superd de los cuales digamos son una raza excluida, ya que se creía que traía maldad, pero no solamente eso, ya que vamos a ver por ejemplo como Rudeus utiliza el nombre de un antiguo grupo para poder formar una identidad con sus amigos y que sean venerados. Estas cositas sinceramente a mí personalmente me encantan y definitivamente es un punto positivo para la historia.

Then another of the positive points that I also love about the series is the variety of characters it has and obviously this is also associated with the above. For starters, the designs are varied, different and eye-catching. As soon as you see a character you realize that they are different from the rest, even if they come from a specific race. If you see a race in general you will realize the incredible designs that each of them have. But aside from that, the secondary characters that are important are also very well developed. Obviously, we don't get rid of the stereotypes because they work, but they only work if you decide to work well on them. Case in point we have Eris which is obviously a full-blown stereotype, but it's very well executed. We have the typical girl who is annoying, impulsive, but if you manage to work well on her you will realize why and Eris is a clear example.

Luego otro de los puntos positivos que también me encantan de la serie es la variedad de personajes que tiene y obviamente esto también va asociado a lo anterior. Para empezar los diseños son variados, distintos y llamativos. Apenas ves un personaje te das cuenta de que es distinto al resto por más de que venga de una raza en específico. Si ves una raza en general te darás cuenta los increíbles diseños que tienen cada uno de ellos. Pero aparte de eso, los personajes secundarios que son importantes también están muy bien desarrollados. Obviamente, no nos quitamos de los estereotipos porque funcionan, pero funcionan únicamente si decides trabajar bien en ellos. Ejemplo claro tenemos a Eris la cual es obviamente un estereotipo en toda regla, pero está muy bien ejecutado. Tenemos a la típica niña que es molesta, impulsiva, pero que si logras trabajar bien en ella te darás cuenta de por qué y Eris es un claro ejemplo.

With all the family traumas and all this trouble and this pressure that she had on her we see why she is like that and to see her improvement and to see how she is growing and how she manages to take refuge in Rudeus I honestly loved it. Eris is definitely one of my favorite characters in the show. And if we have the extroverted girl we also have to have the introvert and in that case it's Sylphy who is also traumatized and has problems. In this case obviously, unlike Eris, she doesn't decide to, let's say, transmit them outwards. She does not decide to be extroverted, but now she takes refuge, because unlike Eris she is being discriminated against and this thanks to her hair color. She has green hair color and people think she is a superd so it is totally logical to think she is going to be a repressed girl. But just like Eris, Rudeus is going to be the one who saves her. He's going to be the one who decides to be her friend and that's going to be very important.

Con todos los traumas familiares y todo este problema y esta presión que tenía encima vemos por qué es así y ver su mejora y ver cómo va creciendo y cómo logra refugiarse en Rudeus sinceramente me encantó. Eris es de mis personajes favoritos de la obra definitivamente. Y si tenemos a la chica extrovertida también tenemos que tener a la introvertida y en ese caso es Sylphy la cual también está traumada y tiene problemas. En este caso obviamente, a diferencia de Eris no decide, digamos transmitirlos hacia afuera. No decide ser extrovertida, sino que ahora se refugia, ya que a diferencia de Eris ella está siendo discriminada y esto gracias a su color de pelo. Ella tiene el color de pelo verde y la gente piensa que es un superd por lo cual es totalmente lógico pensar que va a ser una chica reprimida. Pero al igual que Eris, Rudeus va a ser quien la salve. Va a ser aquella persona que decida ser su amigo y eso va a ser muy importante.

Another very valuable character is Roxy, who is a full-fledged teacher. You get really fond of this character and honestly when you understand and see the history she has in her village you get even more attached to her. And finally we have Ruijerd who is amazing, he's great, he's great. A character who is a superd who obviously has everything going against him. People hate him, but he's good. He saves Eris and he saves Rudeus and it's thanks to this that they form a group of three. Here we realize that Ruijerd is extremely strong and that he is also a very good teacher for Eris. He tries to help Rudeus as well, but obviously we know that Rudeus is not good at physical fights. He is more let's say tactical. He is a full-fledged magician. To see a character as prejudiced as Ruijerd is and to see how he overcomes it and how people treat him well, I honestly love it.

Otro personaje también muy valioso es Roxy la cual es una maestra en toda regla. Le agarras muchísimo cariño a este personaje y sinceramente cuando entiendes y ves la historia que tiene en su aldea te encariñas aún más. Y por último tenemos a Ruijerd el cual es increíble, es genial, es estupendo. Un personaje que es un superd que obviamente tiene todo en contra. La gente lo odia, pero él es bueno. Él salva a Eris y salva a Rudeus y es gracias a esto que forman un grupo de tres. Aquí nos damos cuenta de que Ruijerd es sumamente fuerte y que también es un muy buen maestro para Eris. Intenta ayudar también a Rudeus, pero obviamente sabemos que Rudeus no es bueno en peleas físicas. Él es más digamos táctica. Él es un mago en toda regla. Ver un personaje tan prejuzgado como lo es Ruijerd y ver cómo lo va superando y cómo la gente lo va tratando bien sinceramente me encanta.

Now let's talk about the main character. Let's talk about Rudeus which I think is the lowest point of this story. In general terms, Rudeus is a good protagonist. I think it is very important to see the reaction he gives to other characters. As I already mentioned, Rudeus saved Eris, Sylphie and Ruijerd. They were people who had tremendous problems and it is thanks to this character. It's thanks to our main character that they were able to get out of their pit and be able to move on. On that side it's very good. Seeing also the improvement that the character has, seeing how he comes in and how he increases his powers, I also like it a lot.

Ahora hablemos del protagonista. Hablemos de Rudeus el cual creo que es el punto más bajo de esta historia. En rangos generales Rudeus se me hace un buen protagonista. Considero que es muy importante ver la reacción que le da a otros personajes. Como ya les comenté, tanto a Eris como a Sylphie y como a Ruijerd, Rudeus los salvó. Ellos eran personas que tenían unos problemas tremendos y es gracias a este personaje. Es gracias a nuestro personaje principal que lograron salir de su pozo y poder seguir adelante. Por ese lado está muy bien. Ver también la mejora que tiene el personaje, ver cómo entra y cómo va incrementando sus poderes también me gusta mucho.

And in some aspects, the fact that he has a 30-year-old conscience is also very interesting. Like, for example, the relationship he has with his family, more specifically with his father. All these moments when Rudeus gives his father some talks and his father is in shock because obviously his son is giving him life talks, are very, very interesting.

Y en unos aspectos, el hecho de que tenga una conciencia de 30 años también es muy interesante. Como, por ejemplo, la relación que tiene con su familia, más específicamente con su padre. Todos estos momentos cuando Rudeus le da unas charlas a su padre y este se queda en shock porque obviamente su hijo le está dando charlas de vida, son muy pero que muy interesantes.

But on the other hand, I think this is also the low point. The fact that I have a 30-year-old conscience at times causes me displeasure and obviously I'm talking about the perverted. I don't understand the need. I mean, I don't have a problem with there being perverted characters, as it's a normal thing in anime. I don't have a problem with trying to make this comedy. I mean, it would be illogical for me to say that when I have characters like Sanji or Jiraiya that I love. Maybe some people won't be affected by this, but personally I would prefer this to be taken out of the way. I hope please that they start working a little bit more on the maturity of the character. I hope he obviously takes one more step forward. And please, I hope there is a time jump and that our characters are already of age. Because honestly this is the biggest problem I see with the series. Or at least it's the biggest problem it generates for me. And it's a, but it's honestly quite a big one. And personally I would prefer it not to be like this. But well, this is something personal and I sincerely hope that everyone understands my opinion.

Pero, por otro lado, creo que también este es el punto más bajo. El hecho de que tenga una conciencia de 30 años en algunos momentos me causa disgustos y obviamente estoy hablando de lo pervertido. No entiendo la necesidad. O sea, yo no tengo problema con que haya personajes pervertidos, pues es algo normal en el anime. No tengo problema con que se intente hacer esta comedia. O sea, sería ilógico de mi parte decir eso cuando tengo personajes como Sanji o como Jiraiya que me encantan. Tal vez a algunas personas esto no les afecte, pero personalmente preferiría que esto se saque de lado. Espero por favor que comiencen a trabajar un poquito más en la madurez del personaje. Espero que obviamente de un paso más hacia adelante. Y por favor, espero que haya un salto de tiempo y que nuestros personajes ya sean mayores de edad. Porque sinceramente este es el mayor problema que le veo a la serie. O por lo menos es el mayor problema que me genera a mí. Y es un, pero que sinceramente es bastante grande. Y personalmente preferiría que no fuera así. Pero bueno, esto ya es algo personal y espero sinceramente que todos comprenda mi opinión.

To top it off, we have the whole artistic section. To begin with, the first part has a spectacular animation. One of the best animations I've seen in the anime of that year. There are some extremely incredible and sublime details that make you, let's say, have a genuine reaction to be impressed with the tremendous audiovisual section presented by the series. On the other hand, I also like the direction in certain moments. There are some shots that represent very well the loneliness or the discomfort of some characters, leaving it in the corners of the shots and generating these uncomfortable moments to see.

Para culminar, tenemos todo el apartado artístico. Para empezar, la primera parte tiene una animación espectacular. De las mejores animaciones que he visto en los animes de ese año. Hay unos detalles sumamente increíbles y sublimes que hacen que, digamos, tengas una reacción genuina al estar impresionado con tremendo apartado audiovisual que te presenta la serie. Por otro lado, también la dirección en ciertos momentos me gusta muchísimo. Hay algunos planos que representan muy bien la soledad o la incomodidad de algunos personajes, dejándolo en esquinas de los planos y generando estos momentos incómodos de ver.

The music is also quite, quite good. I love the soundtrack and I think it has a quite, quite, let's say, fantasy touch that suits the world very well and creates tremendous atmospheres. Unfortunately, I consider that all this, let's say, is a step below in the second part of the first season. I sincerely want to say that they slowed down the pace a little bit, but it's still a pretty good animation. Obviously, if you compare it with the first part you can see the difference, but it doesn't make it bad at all.

La música también está bastante, bastante buena. La banda sonora me encanta y creo que tiene un toque bastante, bastante, digamos, fantasioso que le viene muy bien al mundo y crea unas atmósferas tremendas. Lamentablemente, considero que todo esto, digamos, está un escalón por debajo en la segunda parte de la primera temporada. Quiero sinceramente que bajaron un poquito su ritmo, pero no deja de ser una animación también bastante buena. Obviamente, si lo comparas con la primera parte se ve la diferencia, pero para nada lo hace mala.
