Hola a todos mis amistades de la comunidad, el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una banda que conocí en mis tiempos de estudiante de bachillerato, la descubrí en aquellos videos musicales de la antigua MTV (cuando era un canal musical), el nombre de esa banda es Incubus.
Hello to all my friends in the community, today I want to share with you a band that I knew in my high school days, I discovered it in those music videos of the old MTV (when it was a music channel), the name of that band is Incubus.
Incubus es una banda indie que nació en los años 90 en el estado de California, cuando apenas eran unos chicos menores de edad, iniciaron tocando al igual que la mayoría de las bandas de este estilo, en bares y clubes, grababan y practicaban sus canciones con máquinas de grabación caseras en sus garages, poco a poco y con constancia fueron ganando fama, pero necesitaban un vocalista.
Incubus is an indie band that was born in the 90s in the state of California, when they were just a few underage boys, they started playing like most bands of this style, in bars and clubs, they recorded and practiced their songs. With homemade recording machines in their garages, little by little and steadily they were gaining fame, but they needed a vocalist.
Fue así como conocieron a Brandon Boyd, un joven de 15 años que tiene una historia un tanto curiosa en el mundo musical; él mismo cuenta que su dinero solo le alcanzó para pagar dos semanas en la escuela de canto, pero que lo aprendido en ese tiempo le era suficiente, que de allí en adelante seguiría aprendiendo de manera autodidacta; quizás esta sea una de las razones por las cuales su estilo de canto no es algo que escuchemos en cualquier voz, desarrollando un estilo único.
This is how they met Brandon Boyd, a 15-year-old boy who has a somewhat curious history in the musical world; He himself says that his money was only enough to pay for two weeks at the singing school, but that what he learned in that time was enough for him, that from then on he would continue learning in a self-taught way; perhaps this is one of the reasons why his singing style is not something we hear in any voice, developing a unique style.
La banda fue teniendo muchos cambios entre los miembros, sobre todo de bajistas y 1 DJ, quedando actualmente con los siguientes miembros: Dj Chris Kilmore, Ben Kenney en el bajo, Mike Einzinger en la guitarra, José Pasillas en la batería y percusión y Brandon Boyd en los vocales. Su estilo es completamente Indie, con sonidos suaves acompañados por tonadas electrónicas que embellecen el conjunto. Tuvieron mucho éxito en Europa, y fue donde lanzaron su primer sencillo y segundo, o al menos donde empezaron sus giras.
The band had many changes among members, especially bass players and 1 DJ, currently with the following members: Dj Chris Kilmore, Ben Kenney on bass, Mike Einzinger on guitar, José Pasillas on drums and percussion and Brandon Boyd on vocals. His style is completely Indie, with soft sounds accompanied by electronic tunes that embellish the set. They were very successful in Europe, and that's where they released their first and second singles, or at least where they started touring.
También exploran ritmos más rockeron lo cual le da aún más variedad al conjunto, y es que aunque la mayoría de sus canciones más nuevas exploran lo que es el autoconocimiento y asuntos más metafísicos, la amistad y el amor, los cambios personales... también abordan temas como Dios, la muerte y la vida. Fue con el tema "Anna Molly" que les conocí en aquellos tiempos, un tema rockero en el que retratan una poesía de Edgar Allan Poe. Pero si preguntan por un tema que sea mi favorito, ese es "Dig", que retrata una historia de amistad problemática que desea volver a sentirse unida, y en que el vocalista ruega por que le haga recordar quién es él mismo.
They also explore more rocker rhythms which gives the group even more variety, and although most of their newer songs explore what is self-knowledge and more metaphysical issues, friendship and love, personal changes... also They address topics such as God, death and life. It was with the song "Anna Molly" that I met them in those days, a rock song in which they portray a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. But if you ask for a song that is my favorite, that's "Dig", which portrays a story of troubled friendship that wants to feel together again, and in which the vocalist begs to be reminded of who he is.
