Ive seen so many tik toks about people feeling like they dont want to do anything anymore. Like nothing. Not even just work. Like basic things are so hard to do. But they keep saying its not depression and honestly i can see that.

I honestly think it’s bc it feels like we’re striving towards nothing w the direction this world is going in… idk almost like there is no point. And we’re just exhausted from all the shit that’s been happening. Like I really just wanna exist tbh lol

Hello Medic Vibers, how are you doing today? I’m Dr Ebingo Kigigha A trained medical doctor from Nigeria, aspiring to be a leading expert in mental health, depression to be precise. I have been writing/remaking posts for close to 2 weeks and I have to say it has been fun. I know I make mistakes and being on the seat to write like this everyday means you are likely to see me be human once or twice. I’d like to apologize for any of such mistakes as I work ahead to be better.

I’m on my seat again, bringing you mental health talks that you love to read. So far so good how have you been enjoying the experience? Do you have any suggestions I can take into consideration? If you do please leave them in the comment section so I can read them and make necessary adjustments for you my lovely readers.

The post from Twitter is about the economy, particularly how money affects depression and how depression affects money. and how more people appear to be more depressed than they were before. I have to say I agree with the sentiments of this post, but in order to stay objective, I am still going to take account of more knowledgeable references.

Money and depression

Before I go into the specific effects of depression on depression, I would like to dive into the interactions it has with mental health as a whole.

According to Mind.org in a post written in April this year, they outlined some of these important connections. First starting with how mental health can affect money, they made mentioned the fact that being in a depressed state can make you feel reluctant to manage your resources.

Sometimes, overspending can make you feel better momentarily but as expected, when the money runs out you might just have yourself to blame for the way things turned out. Mania and Hypomania may lead to poor financial decisions while in a euphoric state. In my life, I’ve had to deal with the consequences of many poor buys due to the emotional state I was in.

I feel sale people have a way of making individuals feel like the product they are about to buy is the next best thing. But a person in the manic phase of bipolar affective disorder can’t make those connections at the time.

Most mental health conditions in general make a person unable to funtion on daily task. Depression for example has a sad affect and even pleasurable avtivities are pushed to the side similarly to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

If you can not funtion at your job or your business, it can have a remarkabliy adverse effect on your income, investment and your savings.

Many people avoid their accounts apps for the fear of looking at the balance. That fear could be preventing them from doing what is necessary to make money or manage what they have.

Another point ov view given by Mind.org was the effect money can have on a persons mental health.

Financial problems can can bring about feelings of anxiety, for me it debits alerts that give me this fear of the unkown and make me wary about spending money and banks are very happy to send uneccessary ones or send credits late.

Being bothered about money can cause sleep problems, weird how its like a cycle of sleeping problems and depression over and over again.

Personally speaking when I was a lot broker there were a lot of thing I wanted to do but couldn’t because of the financial implications of doing them. Not doing them usaually would leave me isolated because my friends could afford them and they would post it on social media and I would feel bad cause I culd be part of it.

A recent study by Naijie Gua et al involving reiveiw of bibliographic informative data on online platforms. Following their deviced elegebility criteria, they found that Financeial stress was clearly linked to depression especailly in people or group that do not have money. That makes sense if you think about it. People from rich families do not feel depressed when they do not have money because I would think it is hard to run out of the avilable money or it is easier to ask for more.

Part of the reason I’m hustling so hard is that I don’t want to have to go back and ask for money from anyone.

Tips

What I have found is that most of my financial problems lay behind fear. Weather it is FOMO or just good old fear of looking at the bank, it's fear. While whatever issue you might be dealing with may be way more, I feel like if you can take one bold step every day, you will eventually have saved yourself from a great depression that comes from finiacial stress.

Hive Stories

In this post, our friend @ericvancewalton takes us through a helpful tip that helped him deal with depression in his twenties. He talks a lot about dealing with fear in his post “THE PERFECT PAUSE - Chapter Four - Conquering Fear - Do One Thing A Day That Scares You”

Questions

  • How do you feel when you are out of cash?
  • What bad financial decisions have left you feeling uneasy about yourself?
  • What is that decision you are putting back because of fear that you know may or may not help…but you are too afraid to try?

Nice piece and I completely agree.
I fall ill whenever I'm broke or feel frustrated, down, sad and a lot of other emotions.

Sorry. Its expected, so many people try to separate mental health from physical health but the connection is so evident.
