I don't think God fights for us. I'm starting to be convinced that we're all here as punishment for past lives filled with sin that we are not allowed to remember.
We are here as penance to learn lessons that only a feaer of death can teach.
We have to choose what to do. I don't know much more than this but this is a start.

Excellent @eatthebugs I think it's excellent that you have your point of view about life.
I invite you to know more about what God has for us in this life, about what he promises to do through us to bless others too, I am sure that by learning more and more you will come to understand a little more that life is a great gift. and an opportunity where we have the chance to be happy and enjoy many things that are not possible otherwise. As you say: "This is just the beginning." Cheers!
