@xplosive and @wrestlingdesires Boat slips in the UK are not really cheap. Living in a narrowboat can be cheaper in terms of bills due to the reduced energy consumption. However, there are a number of costs you need to consider; fuel. heating, cooking, and toilet emptying. The boat's main electrical system will be run off batteries which are re-charged when the engine is running - as in a car. It is free to dock on the canals (canal and river trust. @dswigle is correct. We live on a little narrowboat and we are continuous cruisers which means we don't have a permanent mooring slip. This makes it cheaper for us but you still have to have your canal and river license paid yearly. Insurance. Diesel and cooking gas. And most importantly remember boats need constant upkeep. All that being said it can be done cheaply and it is a great lifestyle. Keep saving there are many good priced affordable boats out there. Feel free to message me about anything, we went into this blind and had lots of help and advice. Happy to be a sounding board for you
