Sharing Our Harvest: A Small Offering That Becomes a Big Blessing

One of the things I love about being part of our church community is that we don't only gather to pray. We also find simple ways to help and share with people who may need support.

Our church has 10 GKK, or Gagmay nga Kristohanong Katilingban, and each GKK has around 15 members or more. We live in a community where about 90% of the families are farmers, so farming and harvest are a big part of our daily lives.

Our church organized a Harvest Sharing activity. We were encouraged to bring a part of our harvest and offer it to the parish. I was excited to see how our members would participate because I know that many of us have something from our farms that we can share.

But I also understood that not everyone had a harvest to give.

Some families did not have crops ready to harvest. Others were already working, while some had their farms pawned and were no longer able to harvest from them. Instead of farm produce, some members gave cash as their contribution.

And honestly, I was happy to see that everyone was still willing to participate in whatever way they could.

Some brought rice, vegetables, fruits, and other farm produce. Others gave cash. Different offerings, but the same heart to share and help.

What makes this activity more reasonable for me is knowing that these offerings are not simply kept in the church. They are given to people in our community who are in need and need the help of the church.

For me, this is what makes our harvest meaningful.

We work hard for what we have, especially as farming families. We know that every sack of rice, every vegetable, and every fruit comes from our time, effort, and God's blessings. But when we take a small part of what we have and share it with someone who needs it more, it becomes a different kind of blessing.

It reminds me that a harvest is not only something we bring home. Sometimes, it is also something we are meant to share.

I can see the impact of this activity in our community. It brings people together and reminds us that even if we don't have much, we can still give something.

And as a mother, I am also happy that my little daughter is already active in our church activities. She is still very young, but I want her to grow up seeing and learning the value of faith, generosity, gratitude, and helping others.

Maybe she is too young to understand everything today, but I hope that these simple experiences will become lessons she carries with her as she grows.
