Peaceful Mountain Mornings: Caring for My Father’s Animals, Picking Wild Flowers, and Enjoying Brought-Home Food from a Neighbor’s Birthday

Hello everyone!

Today, I want to share a little part of my simple routine here in our mountain home.

Life here is simple. Every morning, I wake up surrounded by trees, grass, fresh air, and the peaceful view of the mountains. Sometimes, when I look around, it feels like there are no problems at all.

Early in the morning, I start by checking my father’s animals. I bring them one by one to places where there is plenty of grass, usually under the trees where they can eat and stay cool.

My father has a carabao, a goat, and a horse. These animals are a big help to us, especially in farming. The carabao and horse have been very useful for farm work.

Sometimes, I tell my father, Maybe we should just sell some of them, because my siblings also have horse and carabao. And because of his condition after his stroke, he can no longer use or take care of the animals like he used to.

But he still wants to see them every day.

I understand him because these animals have been part of his life for many years. Even if he cannot do much anymore, seeing them still makes him happy. So, I just help him with what I can.

After visiting the animals, I walked around the area and noticed some wild flowers. I picked a few and made a simple bouquet.

I thought of my sister-in-law, so I gave the flowers to her and greeted her a Happy Teachers’ Day. The flowers were very simple, but she appreciated them. It made me happy too.

I realized that sometimes, we don't need expensive gifts to make someone feel special. Even a few flowers picked from our own surroundings can already mean something when they are given with love.

While walking around, I also stopped for a while to appreciate the view. Everything was green, quiet, and peaceful. It felt like the world was moving slowly.

I feel blessed that this is our place.

Life here may be simple, but the peace I feel here is something I truly appreciate.

Later, I went home to have some merienda. Yesterday was our neighbor’s birthday. But here in the mountain, our neighbors are not exactly just a few steps away. They can be quite far from our house.

I could not attend because I needed to stay with my father and my brother. So, my sisters brought some food home for me from the birthday celebration.

This is how my simple day goes here in the mountains checking the animals, picking wild flowers, enjoying the beautiful surroundings, and sharing simple food with family.

These little moments are already enough to make me grateful.
