Our Sweet Aya Turns 15: No Brownout Could Stop Her Birthday Fun

I want to share with you the simple but happy celebration of my husband’s niece, Aya, who recently turned 15 years old.

I also shared her birthday celebration last year when she turned 14. Now, she is already 15! Time really goes so fast.

Aya is one of my nieces whom I have become close to over the years. I love taking simple photos with her whenever we are on the farm. Sometimes, we just take pictures while walking around or doing simple things. What makes me happy is that sometimes, she even uses the photos I take for her school homework. So, even our simple pictures have become useful to her.

I also remember the Christmas and New Year celebrations we spent together during the time when her mother was not beside her. It was during those moments that I got to know Aya more personally. I saw how kind and helpful she is. She is also a very easy child to ask for help because she listens and is willing to do things when asked.

One thing I appreciate about Aya is how she takes care of my daughter. She gives her time to play with her, look after her, and spend time with her. My daughter is also very happy whenever Aya is around. For me, that is something special. I can work my task when she is there.

This year, I was not able to help much with the preparation because I was busy with my schedule. I was not there to help with cooking or preparing the ingredients. But even if I could not help with the cooking, I still wanted to contribute something, even just a simple thing.

So, I decided to buy a simple chocolate cake for Aya. Actually, my daughter helped me choose it because chocolate cake is her favorite. Haha! I also bought carrots, potatoes, and other ingredients from the market that could be used for the food preparation.

When we arrived, the family was already busy preparing different dishes. There was lumpia, macaroni, and other delicious food. Many family members helped, making the preparation easier.
When it was time to celebrate, everyone gathered around Aya. We sang Happy Birthday, and she blew the candles on her chocolate cake. Of course, we took pictures and videos to keep these happy memories.

But our celebration did not end in the afternoon. We came back again at night! Haha! Since there was still plenty of food, we happily came back for dinner.

The boys also had their drinking and tagay moment, while my sisters-in-law were busy taking videos and singing videoke. Then suddenly, we had a brownout! Haha! But even without electricity, the fun continued.

For me, I may not have helped much with the cooking this year, but I was happy that I could contribute in my own little way.

Sometimes, even a simple cake, some vegetables, a few photos, and a little effort can create beautiful memories when they come from the heart.

Happy 15th Birthday, Aya! May you continue to grow into a kind, beautiful, and responsible young lady. Be a good example and inspiration to your younger cousins. Always stay humble, follow your dreams, and be happy!
