Our Strawberries Are Finally Bearing Fruit! Fresh, Homegrown, and Almost Ready to Sweeten Our Cravings

Hello, my dear Hivers! 🍓🍓

I am very happy to share another update about our little strawberry garden. If you remember my previous post, I shared how my daughter and I started planting strawberries in our backyard. At that time, we were only hoping that one day we could see them grow and produce fruits.
And now, that day is finally here!

Our strawberries are now starting to have fruits, and I cannot explain how happy I feel every time I see them. They may still be small, and we don't have many to harvest yet, but for us, they are already very special.

The funniest part is that we haven't even harvested many strawberries yet, but some people are already asking if they can buy some or even asking for a few. I just smile because I am thinking about the moment of my daughter to harvest with her own.

But honestly, I am very happy that people are already interested in our strawberries. It makes me feel that all the time and effort we put into taking care of them are slowly paying off.

e (9).jpg

But the happiest person in our strawberry garden is definitely my daughter.

She is very excited now that she can see the progress of the plants. Some of the strawberry plants were planted by her own little hands, so I think she feels that they are really hers.
Almost every day, she checks her plants.

She looks at the leaves, the flowers, and now the little fruits. Sometimes she will come to me and show me what she found. Seeing her excitement makes me happy too.

Before we reached this stage, we really had to take care of our strawberries every day.
We also started using some fruit scraps like banana peels and other fruit parts that would normally be thrown away. We use them as part of our simple way of giving nutrients back to our plants.

f (16).jpg

I also learned that strawberries need proper care. They are quite sensitive to the weather. When the sun is too hot, they can easily become stressed. When there is too much rain, we also need to be careful because too much water is not good for them.

g (8).jpg

That is why we always check our plants and observe what they need.

When watering, we also make sure to use clean water. We don't want to give our strawberries anything that may harm them. We learned that even simple things like proper watering, enough sunlight, good soil, and regular checking can make a big difference.
For me, gardening is not only about growing food.

h (7).jpg

It is also about teaching my daughter patience.
Every day, she sees that plants don't grow overnight. She has to wait, take care of them, and give them time. And now that she can finally see the fruits, I think she understands why Mama always says, “Be patient. Good things take time.”

From one small strawberry pot, we now have fruits that we can finally look forward to harvesting.
We are still far from having a big strawberry harvest, but I am already thankful. Every little strawberry feels like a reward for our patience and hard work.

And of course, I am excited to see my little girl finally taste the strawberries that she helped plant and care for.

k (5).jpg

This is our own simple strawberry gardening experience. We are still learning, and we are not experts. We just try, observe, learn from our plants, and enjoy the process.

m (5).jpg

Sometimes, the harvest may be small, but the happiness it brings is already big.

I hope we can continue growing not only strawberries, vegetables, and fruits, but also happy memories with our children.

Thank you so much for reading my story. These are my own photos from our strawberry garden, edited in Canva.

Have a nice day!💛

Nakakatuwa talaga makita yung progress nila! 💗

Home grown strawberries are the best ! So much more flavour than shop grown ones.

What we do with ours is put a layer of straw (not hay) around them, so the fruit isn't sitting on the dampness of the earth and benefits from air flow. We put a few pots of compost near the plants, that way the runners can find them and make new plants for next year (or escape onto the lawn, like they did in one area 🙄).

Thank you so much for sharing your tips! I will take your advice and try putting a layer of straw around my strawberries to keep the fruits off the damp soil. I also love the idea of placing compost nearby so the runners can grow into new plants. Hoping to have more strawberries next season! 😍
